Seeking Info on East Harbor State Park, Marblehead, Ohio
Hello, I am planning a trip this weekend (late notice I know!) to the Marblehead area and East Harbor seems to be the nicest place I can find to camp. We have a 30' Camper and there are 8 of us, My parents (55 y.o.) My Brother and Sister-in law and their two children (3 and 1 1/12 y.o), and Myself & My Husband. We are looking somewhere with nice playgrounds, swimming beach, and clean grounds. The only thing we are concerned about is the State Park rules of No Alcohol, we are not looking to get out of contol by any means (clearly, we have two toddlers with us) but when were camping we do enjoy a few beers we do not want to get fined, arrested, or kicked out! Any input on this campground would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!

I think this park is across from Cedar Point and you can camp on the beach. As far as state park and drink if you keep it low key they will not bother you. You have to remember with budget cuts there are fewer of them these. Follow my rules of life Keep a low profile respect everyone and leave the place better than you found it
Cedar Point has a nice campgrounds and when you get tired just go back to camper

This park is on the Marblehead Peninsula across the Sandusky Bay from Cedar Point. You don't camp on the beach, but in a campground a mile or so from the beach. It is a half hour or more drive from Cedar Point across the bay bridge. I looked all over their web site and the only thing I saw about alcohol was that it is prohibited in public areas of Ohio State Parks. It is sold in lodges, etc. so don't see how they can prohibit it in your camp site or RV.

I see this is your 1st post. Hi there & welcome to IRV2.
EHSP is a large, very nice state park. As long as you don't get loud/rowdy & keep your "beverages" in koozies or inconspicuous, you won't have an issue with the rangers. I also believe OH state parks have a 6 person limit for campsites, but they don't seem to enforce that much from what I've seen of the number of people & tents crammed in some sites. They probably won't even count the kids since they're so little.

East harbor is our 2nd home! We camp there quite often. Alcohol is not an issue whatsoever. I usually pour mine in a cup or put it in a koozie. I see someone in a post mentioned the park rangers do not circle the campground as often as they used to. This is correct, but the local police department and sheriff's dept. does. They have partly taken over for the rangers. When we camp there we always stay in the "b" section...no pets. The campsites are more spacious and its a bit quieter, just my opinion. The beach is not quite a mile from the beach. Enjoy!

Forgot to mention the b section is electric only. But water and a dump station is easy to get if need be.

How did your trip go? I'll 2nd what Lori says...As long as you put your beverages in a koozie and not walk around the park with them, I have never had a problem in Ohio State Parks.....
Back a few years ago...At East Harbor there is a large pop-up group that has there annual wine tasting weekends there, with all sorts of bottles on the table.....
