I read the closed thread on this resort and was favorably impressed by the positive comments. Their web-site is impressive and the fact that they have three fenced, off-leash, doggy play areas will be well received by our two Labs. We plan a one-night stop there on our way to start a trip northwards on the Oregon Coast, starting in Brookings.

We'll be doing a southerly two-day dash from Anacortes and are planning to stay at Woodland Shores, just off I-5 north of the Oregon state line, followed by a stop at Seven Feathers. We'll then be headed over to Brookings and Harris Beach State Park.

After that we'll wing it for about 9 days, ending up at Fort Stevens before heading back to the concrete compass (as my light airplane pliot friends call I-5) and home, probably with one overnight at Miller-Sylvania SP in Washington.

This is our first extended trip in our recently purchased 02 Georgetown 325. We've done three four-day weekends so far. We're hoping the early fall weather will be kind to us. Having grown up close to the two rain capitals of England (Liverpool and Manchester) rainy weather isn't a show stopper. We recently spent two days at Manchester State Park, on Washington's Kitsap Peninsula. Being Manchester, of course it rained!

We stayed at Seven Feathers a couple of months ago and yes, it is very nice. We have also stayed at Harris Beach State Park just north of Brookings and it is also very nice. I presume when you leave Seven Feathers you'll go down I-5 to Grants Pass and take 199 towards Crescent City/Brookings. We live near Cave Junction and there are two places we'd suggest you stop if you have time. Just north of Cave Junction is Just a Burl. They do extremely interesting things with wood. Driving an RV just pull off the shoulder on the right when you see the sign on the front of the building. The building is on the left as you are heading south. You can spend an hour or more just looking at the fine wood work and creative ideas and there is no cost unless you decide to purchase something. We'd also suggest you take an hour or so and visit Great Cats of the World on the left side of the road at the south side of Cave Junction. It does cost a bit, $12 for a senior citizen. There are cats from all over the world and you get real close to them. This is also worth the time and if you have any interest in big cats. We hope you enjoy the trip.

It seems that 7 Feathers is always a stop in either direction. One year we were there three nights waiting for weather to improve and stuck up a conversation with the manager. I asked if they were feeling the pinch of the downturn in the economy and he stated that it really wasn't too much of a problem for them. The tribe made a conscious decision to be the premier Indian Casino RV Park and remained committed to that. Also, the location is a major factor in keeping them going.

We stayed there for several days in 2007 and loved it. If you have the time take advantage of their casino shuttle and freebies/dinner specials. I think we had steak and lobster for about $15!

Oregon state parks are also the best. We fell in love with Cape Blanco.

If you are simply overnighting and do not need hookups they have a dry camping area at the north side of the casino. And, if you get one of the casino "player cards" there is a discount at the fuel station. Also the shuttle will pick up up at the dry camping area.

In the end we changed our minds and went on OR 42 from Roseburg overmto the coast. We stayed at a Good Sam CG outside Winston, before going on to Cape Blanco. We had one night at Heceta Beach Good Sam's and are now at a KOA in Lincoln City.

We had beatiful warm, sunny weather to start with, but today turned nasty. At Sea Lion Caves, it was about 40 degrees, blowing 35 knots and raining. Headed north again tomorrow - Tillamook for the Air Museum and then overnight at Fort Stevens.

Back into WA the next day and route home TBD.

When we lived on the west coast we stayed there several times on our way north or south on I5 and enjoyed it, the shuttle runs 24 hours a day and will come to your site by calling on CB. The only down side, if you consider it a downside, there isn't much else in the area, but then why do you go to a casino campgrpund anyway?

We have stayed here a couple of times and have made it one of our favorite one night stops going north and/ or south on I5. Very clean, modern, easy access, shuttle to casino comes to your space, easy access and discount on fuel.... Great pit stop... If you are going thru in the winter, it tends to freeze less here than point to the south and north of it for some reason. Makes it possibly a better hold spot for freezing weather than, say, Ashland (albeit the restaurant choices in Ashland can't be topped within a 100 miles either direction)
