Shreveport, La. Campgrounds?

I can't believe how few campgrounds Shreveport has. Tall Pines seems to be the best.

Are there any hidden treasures out there? I don't need a fancy one. We will be there for 3 nights to visit kinfolks and take care of some business.

Tall Pines

I have stayed at Tall Pines and it is a really nice RV park. Can't go wrong if you stay there.

We have stayed at Diamond Jacks Casino rv park. I think it is basically for the convenience of casino goers. The office only seems to be open during the afternoon check-in hours. Lots of grass, level concrete sites with FHU. Not spacious, but not too close either. Easy off the interstate if you have good directions. It was OK for a couple nights but the trains are quite active and noisy. You may wish to check them out on www.rvparkreviews.com.

Yes the casino works but the trains run all the time right behind the park.

If you can get by with 30 amps the Bossier CivicCenter complex has about 10 spots. No water or sewer. We use to go there for a dance weekend every year in October. The cost use to be $15.00 per nite. Have to go to office and pay and they will come out and turn on power.

If you have military credentials, the famcamp on Barrksdale AFB is pretty nice. Other than that, I would look at either Cypress Black Bayou Park about 10 miles north of Bossier City or Lake Bistineau State Park about 25 miles east/se.

I am now thinking of Cypress Black Bayou. We have some friends that live out that way. The reviews are not great, but the negatives are mainly how the park is set up. We would enjoy sitting outside there more than at Tall Pines.
