SLC to Yellowstone in 3 days
First time RVer, flying into SLC and renting 31' Class C for 10 days. Traveling with 3 kids, ages between 2 and 10, and meeting extended family in West Yellowstone on the fourth day. Any suggested route and sites for those three days? Also have two more nights on the back end, on the way back to SLC.
Thanks,
D

Hi ... DH and I live in Swan Valley, ID ... about 2 hours from West Yellowstone entrance. May I ask why 3 days from SLC to West Yellowstone?
One place I would DEFINITELY bring the kids (and I don't know if this is on the way to Yellowstone) but go to Bear World. It is AWESOME. I am 47 Yrs old. I went there 2 or 3 years ago and I LOVED it. If I had the photos with me, I'd send you some.

I would highly recommend staying in the Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone. We have stayed there several times then did some of the park in the toad. Then I would suggest going through the park in the coach down to the Tetons with a stay in Colter Bay RV Park.

DITTO the Bear World. Did this 2 years ago last July and my Grandsons still talk about bottle feeding the cubs. It was a bit pricey, but the pics and memories made it priceless. It is just outside of Rexburg, ID. Easy drive from SLC and then head out to West Yellowstone next morning. If you're staying at Grizzly RV park in West Yellowstone you will enjoy it.

Yes, Sgt. Joe ... I was surrounded by 5, 7, 9, 12 year old kids! oh well ... I had a ball! The petting pen is great too.

BigSkyBob: Colter Bay is BEAUTIFUL ... we haven't camped there yet ... and we only live a few hours away! Shameful.

We have taken our boys to Yellowstone three times over the last 13 years. Couple of family favorites:
- swimming in the Great Salt Lake off Antelope Island. The boys were amazed that it was impossible to sink.
- Craters of the Moon, Arco ID - walking through lava tubes was very cool
- Yellowstone - take the bus tour of the upper and lower loops. Beats driving and having to find a place to park. Guides are very knowledgeable and focus on the kids.
- Yellowstone Institute Private Guide - we rented a private guide for the day which was worth every penny. I've been to Yellowstone 5 times and that guy showed us places that we never knew existed.
- Tetons - beware to mosquitos on the Elk Island steak dinner boat ride!
Have fun!

Thanks for the great feedback folks!

Three days, because that's the time between flying into SLC and reservations at KOA in West Yellowstone. I'm new to RVing, but my sister is not... and she took care of the reservation.
Dagwood
We'll be there the last week and a half of July.
