Smoke in glacier

Is the smoke bad in glacier? Is it worth going? We are in the Tetons now, smoke is awful and will have to return again. Was planning to go from here to Glacier, Seattle, down Pacific Coast, then over to Utah. Debating on going to glacier or making a bea line to the west coast and play it by ear from there.

I'm not sure about Glacier but you will likely go through a bunch of smoke going west to Seattle depending on the route you choose. US 2 goes pretty close to some of the fires and the last I knew SR 20 through the North Cascades was closed (that's where they lost the fire fighters last night).

I90 is a bit further south and may be ok. I'll know more tomorrow since I'm headed that way in the morning.

HERE is a link to a blog by someone who was just there a few days ago (Aug. 17). He says the fire in Glacier is on the west side, so that's where most of the smoke is. However, there is haze on the east side from fires to the west all the way back near Seattle.

Hi Mewin,

Can't answer your question but can add another data point.

I'm in Lincoln, MT (south side of the Bob Marshal Wilderness Area - south of Glacier about 100 miles or so). It has been smoky here, on and off for a week or so. Today, it is very smoky with falling ash (very small amount).

Just a lot of smoke across Idaho and Western Montana from the multiple fires in Washington North and west of Spokane...0ver 70k acres burned in multiple fires that are still 0% contained means smoke till it rains...and that isn't happening much. Go to the coast.
