Recommend any campground near Smoky Mountain National Park?

If you want a really quite place,concrete pads ,nice place. You have a view of the river out your front window.

Hi boiler up,
Two Rivers is way to far away, for me. There is a lot of traffic between Two Rivers and all the local activities. If you have a class A coach, consider Hidden Mountain Resort. Go to The Dell RV and take a look. The location is a mile off the Parkway. Really quiet. It is on the boarder of Sevierville and Pigeon Forge.

We stay at River Plantation, large campground some sites on river. Most of the campgrounds in the area are nice.

We stayed at Two Rivers Landing RV Resort in October 2012 for 6 nights.
It is located about 3 miles east of I-81 --- which means you don't have to drive your rig through all the traffic on the Parkway - Easy in and Easy Out!

I suppose it just depends on what you are planning on doing for your stay in the area. We found it easy to stay there. Yes, the drive into the National Park is a bit longer but we only did the "Park" two days. The rest of our time in the area we ventured out to other attractions, i.e. Asheville (Biltmore Estate), Knoxville, Danville, Bush Bean Factory, etc. We then had an easy exit out of the area and back on I-81 North at the end of our stay.

The CG was meticulously well kept, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the laundry room was big and very clean. They also had free WiFi which actually WORKED! In addition if you are a Class A-- MH you are assigned a site facing the French Broad River (providing availability). We had beautiful views right out our front window.

It is easier to drive the toad twards the park than the coach. Two rivers is not a family campground although they have a small playground Sure is clean, landscaping is great, quite! and a nice view on the front row.

Thanks so much for sharing! I have some research to do! We are a family of 6 pulling a 30ft camper. Looking to stay 6 or 7 nights. Any thoughts on "up the creek" rv campground?

The Rally was held at River Plantation and it was real nice. We traveled around in our toad,once you find the back side roads the trip to the park is a lot easier. It only took us a little riding around to find the route that the locals use.

Hi, If you want toe in the park and with no hookups there are 2 campgrounds in the park, one on the NC side and one on the Tn side.

When we go to that area we stay at either of the following:
Creekside Rv Park, Pigeon Forge
Kings Dominion, Pigeon Forge

THere are a lot of campgrounds in Pigeon Forge, TN but if you want to stay in NC there are a few in Cheerokee, NC

Enjoy the Smokies as we go there a lot.

When is the best time of the year to visit the Smoky Mountains? Don't want any chance of snow, but also do not want unbearable hot either.

Summer is hot and crowded - I'd say fall season has to be a great time to visit. And, of course, the fall colors are beautiful when the leaves change - that would be in October - and it's hard to time the "peak" of fall colors which is dependent on the weather in any given year.

We stayed at the Cove Mountain RV Resort just outside Sevierville. In all of our travels this has been one of, if not the best RV Park we've stayed at. Our site had to be at least 3/4 of an acre in size. I've seen whole parks that were smaller than our lot site. Beautiful thick grass with lots of trees. It was less than three miles to one of the park entrances, and close to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We were there in early October. Oh....our site looked straight out at the Smokies.....it was so cool to see the fog, haze or whatever it is that covers the mountains come in every evening. Highly recommended.
