X2 on the Voyager!

You might also consider Mesa/Apache Junction area. A ton of snowbirds there, lots to do, but maybe too many people if you want a more laid back environment.

We spent a couple of weeks at Countryside RV in Apache Junction. Nice park with good low cost winter rates.

If you like the beach and fishing, check out Isla Blanca Park on the end of South Padre Island, TX. It's run by the county parks. No amenities, but heck you have miles and miles of beaches to walk/bike and fishing right off the jetty.

If you like activities, RinCon West in Tucson is the place to go. There are over 200 different sponsored activities, including a full wood shop, jewelry shop, swimming pool, dancing, entertainment, pool room, poker room, on and on. I spend every winter there and can't wait to get back in the fall.

If you have access to the military campgrounds, I strongly suggest you check them out. The one at Naval Air Station Corpus Christy is open to the public. You will get a great camp site with full hookups, right next to the water for about $20 a night. Free laundry too. Perfect spot to use a base for checking out the area and surrounding areas.

We stay at Trails End Weslaco, Tx. Lots of activities at the park and is one of the cheaper parks. The park is only 8 miles from Progresso, Mexico. Great place to get dental work done.

The only thing that i found in Yuma area is the winds get to blowing and the dust,well is something else,plus I found that certain times when they spray the fields if you have any allergy's ??

Best thing to do is go past Tucson a 150 miles to Rocky Point Mexico, Playa Bonita RV park, much better than US parks on the sea of Cortez.

Western Sands and sister Parks(3) in Yuma, the sites are nice and big with full amenities and the cheapest in the city.

If you choose the Tucos area I suggest deAnza. well managed, friendly, a lot of activities pool, excercise room, dances, B/L/D on weekends close to Tucson, Nogalas etc.

Are there cheaper places to stay in Tucson that are still nice? We don't need activities, we used to live there and have friends and know of things we like to do, so a full feature resort is too much for us.

hi Our favorite spot is Tombstone Territories RV park. Nice spot, inexpensive, pet friendly with easy access to doggie walks, great food, drink and great poker in Tombstone. Wonderful walks and shops in Bisbee. EVERYTHING you might need in Sierra Vista, just 1/2 hour away including Walmart, Safeway, Restaurants, Veterinary services, RV and auto repairs and much more.

We decided to skip Texas and head for Our favorate state, The Land of Enchampment , New Mexico ! First year it was Las Cruces , nice in December, snow in January......we headed for Tucson for the balance of winter season. lazy Days fit our bill , lots of space and a lot of places to see, do , eat , and get stuck in traffic. Just too big ! . By April is safe to head for Santa Fe , our favorate city in Southern America. ...Last year we tried Tucson again, mostly the weather , but knew there must be a better place.......we found it , Boulder City, Nv. !!! Quiet, clean, great rates, on the water ( lake Mead ) quaint small city with very friendly people...almost no crime, just a good feel all the time we were there. This year we will be there in November thru Aprail, then as always , Santa Fe for a couple of weeks on the way back to upper Michigan. I think I have found the best of both worlds and if you want city action, Vegas is only 30 miles away.

If you are equipped to boondock, the BLM lands near Quartzsite, AZ are perfect. $180 for the entire 7 month winter season. BLM provides a dump station and water points as well as garbage pickup from the dumpsters in the areas. You DO have to provide your own electricity but many run generators when needed (during daytime) and many others have sufficient solar panels to keep their batteries charged (Arizona sun, ya know). And as far as neighbors, well Q is the "sturgis" of RVers. During the two week show/gathering around the last of Jan/ first of Feb the area quite literally fills up with RV's. All that said there's still plenty of room. The BLM Long Term Visitor Areas alone cover over 11,000 acres. We've wintered there for the last 6 or 7 years and we love it.

Rocky Point sounds interesting, one road in one road out, but what is it really like there, an other Country always has consirns. Would like to know more about those who have chosen to leave the States for a while in their coach. Any more comments would be welcome.
