Snowbird sites in Texas and Arizona
Specifically, we are considering spending part of the winter in either the Rio Grande Valley of Texas or the Tucson area in Arizona. We would appreciate any recommendations of or warnings about specific RV resorts. Either location is an easy two day drive from our home near Amarillo, TX.

Probably the best 'resort' in Tucson is the Voyager RV. It has every type of amenity you may want. Pickleball is big there, if that's an interest.
Personally, we love Catalina State Park.

Bentsen Palms in Mission Tx is nice but reservations may be tight. Llano Grande looks like a nice park as well. We stayed at Mission West but I've heard it's not so great right now. There are lots of parks in Mission and McAllen. Harlingen also may have some that interest you.

Try the Rincon West RV resort in Tucson. We stayed there two winters ago and had a wonderful time. The sites are nice, the people are friendly and there are a many, many activities and great entertainment. They even have a model railroad club.
Check them out!

We visited several parks in the RGV of Tx this last May/June while visiting friends in the area and will be staying at Green Gate Grove-Mission,Tx for 4 months this winter. Very nice established park with rv lots for rent and info on the website on how to contact the respective owners if interested. Don't hesitate to wheel and deal on the monthly rental rent as they can usually be had for less than stated.

In the RGV Llano Grande is a must, been their twice and going back. Checked out quite a few of the others while there. Bentsen Palms and Retama are also good but Llano has them beat IMHO.
