We're trying to decide if it's worth taking our daughter out of school for a day (it'll be the second week back after Summer). If so, we'll be somewhere between the Oregon coast and Idaho. Haven't figured it out the details yet. Would have to head straight home right afterward in order to get back.

We're going to be somewhere close to Idanha Oregon for a couple weeks. Should be an interesting event to watch.

I was unaware of the eclipse until now. We're planning to be in Golden Colorado in August, so now I'm thinking we can run up to Wyoming for a few days and catch the eclipse, even if just from the Walmart parking lot in Casper.

I've had it on my calendar for about 5 years. For those who are interested, there is another total eclipse in 2024. That event goes south to north. There is an area around the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers that are in both shadows.

Originally we planned on being in east TN. We really like the COE park at Defeated Creek and the commercial CG Mountain Glenn. Both are in the path.

After realizing my nephews house in Jefferson City, MO is in the path, we decided to be there.

You would get about 45 more seconds of total darkness up the road around Lake Chatuge.

We are booked into a small 10 hook up RV hunting camp outside of Douglas WY very close to the center line of the eclipse with vast amounts of open land, unfortunately we were too late to get one of their full hookup sites, and will have to make do with electric only. We have 80 gallons of fresh water tanks so we should be fine for 3-4 days, showers may just have to be shorter than ideal. We just booked this week, places are filling up very fast, it took me a couple of hours searching online to find a site as good as we did in the region we wanted. Most of what I found still available were the typical road side RV parks where everyone is squeezed in 20 feet apart, either that or it was dry camping in some overflow field.
