Soliciting your recommendation for California beach-centric RV resorts...
We are preparing for our first RV trip to the beautiful California coast! (Santa Barbara area and as far north as the Golden Gate Bridge). We need your help and recommendations please!
We are planning to travel this March, for at least one week (or more). We are bringing our four beautiful (grown) Labrador Retrievers with us - all exceptional swimmers. Our dream has been to camp with the RV as near to the Pacific beach as we can, safely of course. We want nothing more than to run and play with the dogs in the ocean, at a scenic location. I'm pulling a 40' fifth wheel Montana, so "easy-in/easy-out" is preferred! We have a generator, but don't want to rely on it for extended stays, but overnight is okay though.
I'm looking for one or more fantastic camping sites with 50 AMP service (whenever possible, but 30A can work too). We really want to stay very near the beach so we can walk directly from the coach to the beach with the dogs, avoiding having to cross roads to get there, primarily with the safety of the dogs in mind.
We've been looking online at a number of great sounding locations, and we are thinking about locations from Santa Barbara, going as far north as the Golden Gate Bridge. Please share your experiences and recommendations with us!
If this helps, we love visiting wine country, so we know we will be close to many great wineries as well.
Please also mention any "must avoid" as well!
Thank you so much in advance!
Gus & Pauline

I think you'll find it EXTREMELY difficult if not impossible to find any campground, let alone resort that will allow four dogs, especially four large dogs. Many state parks limit it to two and charge extra fees for dogs.
Many do not allow dogs, period.

I have no idea if Jalama County Park in Santa Barbara County will accept 4 large dogs but this is a beautiful campsite. Water/elec sites are available as is a dump station. Walk to small camp store and cafe right on the beach. Winter surf can be strong. About 17 miles west of CA Hwy 1 on narrow but good paved road. Stock up first on groceries (and dog food ) in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria or Lompoc.

Marina Dunes RV in Marina is about a quarter mile walk to the beach. A warning about the beach is that is has heavy shore break and the surge can quickly overwhelm your dog and you if you are too close so leashes are prefered, but people walk their dogs there. I leash mine. Lots of birds to chase and they run into the surge area because they can fly away. Dogs cannot.
There have been some recent cases of dogs being swept away and owners drowned trying to rescue their dog in the Surf area ( a location near Lompoc) which is similar to Jalama as mentioned above. However this is rare and vast numbers of people use these beaches safely. I think having four dogs to monitor just makes it a lot to watch at one time, so I mention these things, not to scare you but "be prepared".
In Marina you are within driving distance, maybe 20 minutes of Carmel, which has a great off leash area at the end of the main street. Locals are pround of it and will mention it to anyone with a dog in town.
Morro Dunes RV is right across from a gentler beach in Morro Bay.
wide and gentle water at the edge. Plenty of room to run. It is divided into leash and unleash areas, Do not waunder into the leash areas off leash there is a big fine. The town of Morro Bay is a great place.
Pismo Beach is a good place to look. There is a huge RV park there right on the beach.
However, four dogs is a challenge for RV places. I have no idea if these places would allow that many. Hope you can find what you want.

Pismo Coast Village is really nice, you can be on the beach in minutes, I'm sure you'd need to make a reservation. In Pismo you can camp right on the beach if you want, dry camping but you can't get any closer. I agree on Morro Bay, we love it there. Lots(200) of winery's in the Paso Robles area.
I've never camped at Jalama, I have driven out there but I can tell that it's not for me.
