Some questions on the Colorado River Adventures Packages.
A good friend is thinking of gifting their membership to me. They said at the time they bought it, it was around $8,000 and the top of the line package.
I can't find anything online about what's included with this package. I assume it's because they want you to view their presentation in person.
Does anyone here know what's included in the "platnium" or "unlimited" packages?
What about if I'm fulltiming, what are the restrictions for length of stay? 2 weeks stay, then leave for a week? Is that true for all locations?
Are there any fees when I stay somewhere, or is there only the monthly fee?
Do I have to pay a transfer fee to get it in my name?
Thanks in advance!

Your best bet would be to get the membership number and call Colorado River Adventures.
All these companies have sold many different types of memberships over the years so they vary a lot. What ever you do make sure you do not take advantage of one of their free camping tours if you want to be able to get a used membership. All these companies have rules that you cannot purchase/ take over a used membership if you have toured their park in what can be up to two years.
There will be a transfer fee and most probably the dues will jump to the prevailing rate for new memberships.

Your friend should have a copy of the contract, it is very detailed on what you can and cannot do. And yes, they vary alot so make sure you know what you are getting.

Regardless, I would never pay $8,000 for a home park membership -- I wouldn't even pay half that! If they're willing to give you the membership for just the transfer fees, OK, but otherwise...... .

Are you sure he is a friend. CRA is a terrible company to deal with. Good luck.

Yes, it's a good friend, and it's a gift. There may be a $1 price or something similar. I'll ask her to scan and send me the paper work. I assumed that if I were to call CRA, they would not answer my questions and just try to sell me my own plan.

be sure to read the fine print. a lot of these charge a large fee to drop out or you are stuck paying dues till you can find a person to give or sell it

CRA will work with you if you know have the contract number or name. They sent me a form with the transfer fees and the yearly dues when I sold mine....actually gave it away for the transfer fees. I think the transfer fees were something in the 1400.00 range.

Thanks! That's a high transfer fee. I'm concerned that if we decide that we don't want it, we'll have trouble off-loading it too. The more I'm looking at this, the more I'm thinking I'll have to turn it down.
I mean it's free, but it will cost us money to keep it up monthly, money for the transfer, and possibly money when we go to sell it, so the costs seemingly outweigh the benefits here.
