Does anyone know of a state park or RV park where we could stay for the night in October? My web and forum searching didn't uncover anything.
Would prefer not to stay in Walmart parking lot...

You might try RVparkreviewscom or campground reviews on this site.

Thanks Tom.
I searched the site for "Madison RV park" and a variety of other combos but didnt hit anything. I'll check the web site you mentioned. Also today i ordered a copy of 2009 Woodall's so should be able to find at least where they are.

I don't know of any campgrounds in Madison, Wi. but north of there near Baraboo and the Wisconsin Dells there are many, but many probably close early because of the cold. 30 minutes West of Madison there is a nice State Park called Govenor Dodge. It is open year round.

County RV park in Madison here: Lake Farm Park - Parks Division - Government of Dane County, Wisconsin I have not stayed there.
I did stay at Hidden Valley Rv in September, excellent, clean, RV Park in Milton, WI. about 30 miles South of Madison.
Welcome to Hidden Valley R.V. Resort | Milton, WI
Hope this helps

Here's the homepage for RV Park Reviews. RV Park Reviews :: Home
Start there, select the state and then the town.. Upper right panel will also show nearby cities with RV parks.. The listings usually include a link to the park's homepage.. (Find a new park or a park impresses you, real nice or not so much, add it to the reviews..)
Enjoy...

thanks Chicadee! good advice in that neck of the woods. As it turns out we stayed in parking lot just of the highway so that we could get an early start the next morning.
