Not sure how close this is to the area of Arkansas you mentioned, but there is a great Corp of Engineer park in Little Rock Arkansas that is very nice. It is on the Maumelle River. It is called Maumelle Park. It is very beautiful. Tall pine and cottonwood trees, very shaded, big sites. There are also boat ramps for fishing/boating. We overnighted there several years ago while traveling up to Lake Ontario. It is definately a place we will stop at again. It is in the suburbs of Little Rock but quiet, except you can here a train occasionally.
