We made it to Huntington Beach today. No problems but a little construction on the 17 bypass. The park is dry and the beach is beautiful.

Any suggestions for Murrells inlet?

As noted, Pirate Land, Lakewood and Ocean Lakes are at the southern end of Myrtle Beach and most close to Murrell's Inlet. If you arrive and leave during the week, there should be plenty of spaces at any of those. We are at Ocean Lakes now and there are many spots empty during the week. They are completely full this coming weekend (and next I suspect) due to Halloween activities.

Your options on the north end of MB are Briarcliff and Myrtle Beach Travel Park. If you are interested in a true RV resort, there is Willow Tree in Longs, SC but that is a few miles from the beach area.

We are at Huntington Beach SP campground in Murrells Inlet. Sorry for the confusion, I meant any suggestions for food and things to do here.

It is almost full here but I see some open sites. Would not bet on them being open for the weekend though. We made our reservations months ago.

You are right Mark.. Huntington Beach SP is in Murrells Inlet. You can ride your bike (or walk) out the front gate, take a right on the bike/walking trail and then take a right down the dirt road. That will take you to a kayak launch spot where the rangers do some of their programs and there are always folks back there getting oysters & clams. Then on down the bike path begin the restaurants of Murrells Inlet. Last time we just stopped at that first one (forget the name) and the food was good and there's a back deck where you can eat and have a great view of the inlet. If you take a left out of the park on the bike path, you can go all the way to Litchfield Beach.

Also, you can go from the Atalya down the old road on the back side of the lagoon and if you go at the right time, you'll see a gator or two cross the road. Find out from the ranger when the best time to go and where to stop..not to close obviously!
