That should be a great trip! Keep an eye on weather when crossing Mackinaw bridge; we towed a TT across once when it was windy and it was a bit scary. They will generally close the bridge when there are concerns. The NW of Mich is beautiful, many great state campgrounds and nice scenery along the coast. Don't miss Sleeping Bear NP, Hwy 22, several quaint towns along the coastline for exploring. Lots to do in Traverse City area, check out Tunnel of Trees, Harbor Springs, Petoskey, Charlevoix, Empire, Interlochen. Ferry leaves from Ludington, might want to check re: reservations esp with MH and toad. Have a great trip! Heading to that neck of the woods in a few weeks to do some morel hunting

The drive across the UP is great. We lived in Wakefiel Mi for a couple years. The towns are small and quaint, usually something unique to see in each town. Finally took my wife to Marquette which she liked, try any micro brewery you see.

If you have time a day trip out to the Mackinac island is worthwhile. You can take a buggy trip around the Island or rent bike or hike. The drive along the west coast of Michigan is also nice.
