South Georgia to Cheyenne, WY 2014

My husband's bucket list has always included Cheyanne Frontier Days. Actually it is #1 on his list so we have set aside a month to get there and back. We have booked a site in Cheyanne from the 17th of July to the 23rd, but we have allocated about 3 weeks to get there. Is there a route we can take where we can stop for 2-3 nights every 4 or 500 miles or so and find something interesting to see or do? Or particularly beautiful places. Sorry, I searched and couldn't find anything similar.

Trying to remember here but when we made that trip, it was from Milledgeville Ga.
2 days in Chattanooga, visit Raccoon Mtn., Rock City, aquarium
3 days in Nashville, Opryland hotel and Mall, Printers alley, Grand Old Opry
3 days in Kansas city, several good restaurants
3 days in North Platte, to see the trains

Other stops along the way but can't remember them all. We went on to Yellowstone after that then back to Cody before heading toward home. We spent 6 weeks on the trip

Be careful and hope you enjoy the trip as much as we did. Our trip was 3 years ago.

Thanks for your help, Wizard. We are planning to hit three or four of the spots you posted. Looking forward to it!

Lots of places to see and take some time. St. Louis Gateway Arch, St. Louis Grant's Farm, Hannibal, MO, home of Mark Twain, Truman Library, Ft. Hays, KS, Denver. On the way back you could go to Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, WY, Devil's Tower, Black Hills Mt. Rushmore & Crazy Horse Momument & Indian Museum, and on and on. It's according to what interests you, Google "<State name> places of interest" to find lot's of info.

We used to live in Ft. Collins Co which was less than an hour from Cheyenne... We loved going up to Frontier Days. Don't miss the free pancake breakfasts downtown or the Indian village. in your travel either to or from, if you drive across South Dakota, stop at Wall Drug. Very touristy but a classic road trip stop.
