I live a few miles from there, but I have not travelled that road past Cameron since Hurricane Rita. What I remember of it from years past is that it is pretty desolate from Grand Chenier to Abbeville. I have never taken my MH over the ferry at Cameron, but it handles big trucks so I don't believe it will pose a problem for a MH. Sorry I cannot give more up to date information.

We camp regularly south of Abbyville at Palmento Island State Park. That campground is less than 10 years old and is a top-notch state park. And there is a lot to see and do from Abbyville to New Iberia. We have a large Motorhome so I don't mess around on 82 west of Abbyville. I don't remember much good camping on that section of 82. If I am traveling west to east, I take 14 from Lake Charles to Abbyville or just use Interstate 10. 14 is a little rough. Palmento Island Park has 50 amp service, wi-if but no sewer hook-ups as I remember. It is a beautiful park and has plenty of privacy between campsites. I believe it is open all year and is about 7 miles south of Abbyville.

Unless that is your destination I would not recommend it in an RV.Two lanes & narrow in places. No shoulders to pull over if you have problems, no services except maybe diesel at a few places.
