Southeast RV park suggestions

We are going to take our first voyage in our beautiful Newmar (AKA SQUIRT) and would like suggestions on a good south east RV park? Preferably near ocean. We are in VA.

Pirateland in Myrtle Beach is on the ocean. Nice park with lots to do there.

Think we might need a little more info - Close - Far - State/National Park or Full Hook Ups Commercial Park? -

https://www.reserveamerica.com/campi...&parkId=360109 - will work if you can get in - You understand this is the HIGH SEASON in the area. -

Think for that first trip I'd just get on the Phone and start calling till you found a Spot that works for you. Our reservations at the Beach are made a year in Advance as it is Just Too Crowded/Popular. -

Yesterday, after working on the other side of the Bay Bridge/Kent Island - traffic was Bumper to Bumper for 10 miles to the Bay Bridge going East. -

While all the roads may be full I'd Look to the West as another Option - something like - Rocky Gap State Park -

Congrats on the new Coach - Get some time off and Enjoy the Shoulder seasons - things get better when the kids go back to School.-

Best of Luck,

If you would prefer a state park as opposed to a commercial one, I’d suggest Huntington Beach State Park just south of Murrels Inlet, SC. They just opened a new section with nice new FHU sites. Nice quite park, and not too far from great food, golf, shopping. Myrtle Beach State Park is also rebuilding many of their sites to be FHU. It is in the same location as all the commercial parks, close to a couple of RV places including CW.

Hello fellow Virginian.

If you are wanting to primarily take your new coach on a shakedown trip and don't want to go too far from home, here are some suggestions:

Williamsburg. There are several RV parks (our favorite is American Heritage). You can visit Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, and eat some great BBQ at Pierce's.

All the beaches will be crowded now but you might try the Holiday Travel Park at Virginia Beach.

Myrtle Beach is our favorite for sure but we never go there in summer. However you might be able to get into one of the many RV parks there. Our favorite is Ocean Lakes but I suspect they will be full. Pirate Land and Lakewood are next to Ocean Lakes. On the north end there is Myrtle Beach Travel Park. There is a new RV park on the intracoastal waterway in Little River (in north Myrtle Beach) called Myrtle Beach RV Resort and Dry Dock. It is very new and perhaps not entirely full now. Not on the ocean but close enough to things to do in Myrtle Beach.

Safe travels.

We like a few coming down the coast from VA to FL, but avoid the Myrtle Beach area like the plague. If you have kids then by all means look at Myrtle, but its too busy, crowded and loud for us. Here's a few to look at that we have been to and return to often:

Cape Hatteras KOA or Camp Hatteras on NC Outer Banks
New Bern NC KOA
Holiday Trav-L-Park at Emerald Isle NC
Hilton Head RV Resort and Marina SC
Mt Pleasant KOA SC
Jekyll Island Campground GA
Bryn Mawr RV Resort St Augustine FL

One that recently caught my eye but we have not been to yet (and is closer to you) is the new KOA on Chincoteague Island VA. It looks nice and we will likely work up a trip there next spring to try that one out.

Enjoy!!

Huntington Beach near Murrels Inlet very nice and much quieter than further N.

Safe travels.

We are heading to VB Travel Park the first two weeks of September and then a week in Williamsburg at American Heritage. We enjoy VBTP but this will be our first visit to American Heritage. Glad to hear you like it.

Bill.

RV Park

Check out Naples Motorcoach Resort, and trailer your boat or waverunner with you. They have a boat ramp and covered storage in the resort and a 5 to 10 minute canal trip to open water to wakeboard the bay, open ocean to fish, or a boat only island access area for beverage consumption.

Cherry stone on the Eastern Shore is also very nice and right on the bay. Very large park and they have a small beach area.
