Spring trip to Gulf Coast

Wife and I are new again after a 25 year absence to RV'ing. Looking to make a trip to the Gulf Coast (Mississippi and Alabama) in the late spring. Have looked at several campgrounds in Gulf Shores, Al and in Gulfport, MS. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?

Never been to this part of country before but understand it is quite beautiful. Also suggestions on things to do while there other than rest and relax. Now that we're retired, we have the resting and relaxing thing down to a science. Not really interested in casinos.

Not an RV question, but are you in any way related to Boeing's former Chief Test Pilot and Director of Flight Training, Jack Waddell? He was my third-level boss for several years.

I'm not sure how frequently one comes across the name.

Check out Heritage in Orange Beach Ala or Bella Terra in Foley. They are both upscale resorts.

We really like Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores. It has 496 sites that are not really close to each other. They have a nice pool,Tennis courts, bike paths.Nature center, and a lot of shops and restaurants around Plus a nice beach that is not crowded. We go there a couple of times a year.Good Luck

Frankdamp, I have no relatives that I know of in Washington. Waddell is a more prevalent name than I had originally thought. A lot of Waddell's are in Arizona, also none that I'm related too. Many Waddell's here in South Carolina. Origin of the name is Scotch-Irish. My Waddell has been in South Carolina for at least 6 generations and came from Scotland. That's probably more than you wanted to know, but thanks for asking.

We stayed at Ho Hum in Carrabelle, very nice, under $30.00/night full hook-ups. Also, Fort Pickens on Santa Rosa island. C.O.E. Do you have the senior pass ??. COE half price with pass. Water/electric only.

We enjoyed Dauphin Island. Very laid-back and quiet at the end of the summer season. We stayed at Dauphin Island Campground. A bit pricey, but decent.
