Springerville to Eagar AZ

We're planning to drive to Alpine AZ from Chama NM, does anyone know what the 180 is like from Eagar to Alpine? It's part of the Coronado Trail, which seems very slow and many curves. Is this a stretch that is part of that? Thanks!

180 Eager to alpine

We drove that road 2 years ago in a 36-foot motorhome pulling a Jeep Liberty. Good road, scenic. No problems.

Stargazer, I have driven the road from Springerville to Eagar. It is flat, perfectly straight and all of 0.8 miles. One of the easiest drives in Arizona

Thank you! The stretch between Eagar/Springerville to Alpine is the concern. It connects to the 191 at Alpine I believe, and some pictures I had seen of long stretches of hairpin curves and 15 mph windy sections and steep grades concern us. I'm hoping that is south of Alpine on the famed Coronado Trail/ Devils hwy and won't affect us. It will be late afternoon at the end of a 400 mile drive and driver fatigue may be an issue!

Driving to Alpine is no problem. However, don't be like us and mistakendly keep going south on 191. We did so in October of one year and luckily no one else was on the road because many times we took up both lanes in the turns. There was absolutely no place to turn around. We have since purchased the 'Mountain Directory for Truckers and RVers' which helps us greatly not to make the same mistakes. We typically love mountain drives but that one????? It was a beautiful drive, however, with the fall colors.

Lol, twogypsies! That is exactly what I want to avoid! I think, then we are ok from Eagar to Alpine from what you and everyone else said. We'll save the drive down south for the Jeep! Looks like a beautiful area! There's an RV park called Coronado Trail RV that looks to be pretty good for a couple nights.
