We're heading to Springfield MO April 16-19th, 2009 for college baseball game series. I need a good campsite anywhere around the city, preferably on the North, West, or South side. I have a 28' Class A Bounder, 30amp

Would prefer electric hookups but NOT neccessary. And if you know of any dump station, that would be greatly appreciated too.

Thanks in advance

Springfield/Route 66 KOA is just off I-44 in the middle of the west side. Check it out at RV Park Reviews. Quite a few listed at Woodall's online directory.

Bounder94,

I have stayed in the Springfield KOA and it is on my list of don't do it again. The park itself wasn't terrible, but they did have a train that seemed to come right thru the park. At least it sounded like it did. I'm familiar with RV parks being built in the railroad zone, but this one was close enough to put it on our do not repeat list. Others' may have different opinions, but just something to think about.

I have a Woodard's book and checked there...I was hoping that someone would have a nice, quiet, out of the way, off the directories, type of location....on the RV.net forum, several have recommended the Ozark Highlands RV park...I can't believe that someplace like Springfield, in the OZARKS, doesn't have some state park around it with cheap 18-20 dollar campsites.....there just ain't much in the area...and I couldn't believe it, so that is why I thought I would ask the forums for help...hopefully we'll find something

I am going to call Bass Pro and see if I can just overnight park there...that is basically all I really need, since it'll be April, I don't really think I will need the A/C at night.

Keep 'em coming!!!...I need more ideas and locations....

Kelly

I have stayed in SuperWalmart in Springfield. Believe its the one at Kansas Expressway exit. OK but busy.

We recently stayed at the Super Walmart at Marshfield, just up Northeast on 44 and was very good. Not busy at night and plenty of room to park. That one may be a ways away for you.

I have stayed many times in the Bass Pro parking lot there. I stay in the back lot off a side street. The only thing that happens is the lot sweeper comes around and makes a bit of noise. Hemmingways - the big restaurant - has a great reasonably priced breakfast buffet to visit in the AM.
