St Augustine and Savannah Recommendations?

We are planning about a 9 day trip soon to both areas..43 foot coach....any advice on CGs in both locations? COE parks are fine also, but we prefer to be close to the beach in St Augustine...

We stayed at North Beach Camp Resort. The beach is across the road. It is listed on www.campgroundreviews.com. We had a pull thru that was ok. They will pick you up for the tour. We took the train shuttle. I would recommend the green and white can't remember the names. (The train was red) . We stayed at Savanna Oaks , we did take the tour from the park. We did us our toad to visit Tybee Island, and the 8th Air Force Museum. Besure to tell the ticket taker you did the tour in St Augustine, they will discount your Savanna tour. We didn't know so missed the discount.

Anastasia State Park is a beautiful ocean campground, close to St. Augustine's downtown.

doc,

I'd recommend Skidaway Island State Park near Savannah if you have a toad. It's pretty easy to get to (a few miles from a main feeder into downtown), and it's really nice and quiet - at least during the cooler months. Costs only $23-24 per night. A couple things that might be problematic are that it's on the opposite side of the city from the touristy stuff (historic district) and it doesn't have full hookups. Watch out for the sand gnats, too, but that'll be a problem almost anywhere near Savannah!

Hope you enjoy your trip to the area.

I'm on my way to Savannah tomorrow. One night at Camping World to get in early on Monday for warranty work. Then 3 nights at Hardeeville RV in South Carolina. Only 10 minutes to Savannah, 45 to Beaufort, and easy jump off to other areas. It is a no amenities park according to CG Park Reviews, but a good jumping off point. It is also Passport America so the price is right.

I'll have more after I get there.

We have been here two nights and are on the third. As stated - no frills, like in no swimming pool, now showers, now club house, no store, just a nice, quiet campground with large pull thru's. The drives are gravel and the sites are gravel. Full hook-ups. Lots of woods. Laundry with soft drink machine (cans) for 65 cents. Outside the laundry is an ice chest with bags of ice. There is a lock box on the wall with a sign, "Ice $1." Now that's trust. He hosts are gracious and accommodating. A great jumping off point for Savannah (9 miles - 15 minutes) Hilton Head Island, Parris Island, and other towns of interest. I put this in my high marks place to stay - like rustic setting. (I clocked the time and mileage today - 15 minutes, 9 miles. You only go as fast as the locals in front of you)

In Savannah, take the $10 Oglethorpe tour with on/off privileges all day. $5 more for the next day on/off privileges.

Tomorrow we head to James Island County Park in Charleston, SC. Look it up. It looks real nice and has some good reviews. Park ranger was very helpful on the phone.

Happy trails.
