Looking at Ocean Grove in St Augustine and Encore in Ormand/Daytona area for a layover in January. Heading south after that. Any input would be appreciated.
2 adults, no kids on board, golfers, love the pools and hot tubs, play golf and ride bicycles. Drink wine when we have time....

Hi bdaball,
We been to the Encore park in Daytona several times. It is neat and clean. You'll find your basic full service, hookup CG. It is very wooded so forget the satellite TV. In St. Augustine, I prefer Stagecoach RV park. It is next to I95, convenient to St. Augustine and Camping World is at the same exit. This CG is also very wooded.

What are the sites like at the 2 campgrounds you mentioned? Are they grassy or do they have lots of sand? We will be in the area towards fall and if too sandy and lots of dew in the morning the dog can bring in lots of sand on her paws. Not a problem to wash her paws off but within 10 minutes of being taken inside she wants out again to explore.

For additional info, there are several threads that come up with a search in this forum on 'Daytona' or 'Ormond', here's one as an example.

I have no experince with the RV parks in St Augustine or Ormond Beach. But My son lived in Ormond By The Beach for a year last year while he attended Wyotech Technical School. I personally really like the Ormond Beach area over Daytona, not as busy. St Augustine is also a very nice town to stay in. My wife & I spent a day riding our bicycles all over the old town area following the carraige tour routes. Again a very nice town that is not overly crowded. If I were going to RV there I would look for a park near the coast rather than near I-95. But that is just more of the atmospher we prefer. The Prime Outlets near Camping world are very nice for some great shopping.
Enjoy!!!

Hi Dawn,
Both the CGs mentioned in my post have dirt/sand sites. I guess they could be called dirty sand. It is not beach sand, that is for sure. The ground is hard packed. There is no sinking into the ground. There is grass here and there, but where the coach parks, it is dirty sand.

I like the North Beach Camp Resort nice sites. It is in a residential area of A1A. Quiet no traffic noise. Dirt/sand sites. Campground is across the street from Atlantic Ocean.
