St. Louis Flooding??

We had reservations at 370 Lakeside RV Park with the plans that it would be a 1/2 way point in our drive (via I-70) and would give us a day to explore St. Louis. We got an email last week that the campground is under water and will be closed through at least all of June (we are planning to be there on June 20th). I saw that the Mississippi was supposed to crest a day or so ago. Are there any good campgrounds that will be dry (and safe)? Is it so bad that we should just make other plans?

IMO that is the nicest rv park in the St. Louis area. There is a park at hwy 370 and hwy 94 about 7 miles away from park 370 that we have used as a last resort. The owner is a real POS but you can ignore that for a couple of days if you want to see the area.
Just my opinion but I would elect to pass up St. Louis until the next time. Really not missing that much.

Enjoy the journey

we’ve used the KOA a bit west on I-44 near the Merremac Caverns exit as well as the Casino Queen RV park across the river in East St Louis. the Casino Queen park is safe but i wouldn’t venture out of the park.

Try for a site at Edmund Babler State Park.... high and dry ….. and a beauty!

The point of stopping there is to see the Arch and visit City Museum to help the kids get a little energy out and have some fun. There does look like there would be availability at Babler with no hook ups. Would we regret not having AC for sleeping at night?

We also had 370 Lakeside booked for Memorial Day weekend & missed out as park was flooded. I also agree it is the best place to stay in the area. As an alternate https://sundermeierrvpark.com/ is very close in St Charles & is not flooded. We always stayed @ Sundermeier until 370 opened. It's a little pricey but over all a nice RV park.

Babler's sites are in trees so I don't think no hookups would be an issue for night. It's a great place for kids to get rid of energy.... trails, nice biking if you have them and there used to be a swimming pool... don't know if they still do.

Check to make sure the Arch isn't under water! It's an easy expressway drive (non-rush hours times) from Babler to the Arch and you'll pass the great zoo midway. You could spend more than a day in St. Louis.

I live in St Louis, understand that there was water getting in the elevator shafts, so not sure if it has been closed. Also there is a Koa in granite City, right across the river. I would definitely take the advice of rk911 if you decide to stay at the casino queen. It is not in the best of neighborhood. I wouldn't even stay there but that is me. There is a nice park called pin oak Creek that is about an hour down 44. It is small but a lot to do at it.

I recommend Dr. Edmund Babler SP too. Well kept campground, facilities and friendly staff. Sites are relatively large, but not a lot of vegetation between them. Sites are paved and fairly level. Didn't know they had sites without hookups, unless that's a group site they're talking about. We walked the sites when we were there last year and they all appeared to have hookups. We would go back to Babler when/if in the area again.

I also live in the St. Louis area. It is probably best to bypass St. Louis for now if you want to stay along I70. There are a few campgrounds along I44 in the Eureka area S.W. of StL. They are a KOA and Jellystone. The Pin Oak park is a little farther out.

I also agree to avoid Casino Queen neighborhood.

Sites #53-75 have no electric and are in trees. Paved.

First: I second twogypsies assessment of Babler, it is beautiful if you can get a site that works for you.
Second: The ramp from I270 to I70 is closed for construction. You just need to consider that in your plans. It would affect the NW side of StL. Here is a link to road issues.

Just to extend this a little bit, if you are going from 70 to 270 you are fine. If you are needing to get from 270 south to 70 west you can go down 370 and it will hit. You can also still get on 70 from 270 north.
