St. Louis, Mo.
We will be traveling through the St. Louis area on I-70 this coming weekend.
I would like a recommendation for an RV park to spent the night. The Casino closed its campground Sept. 30. The KOA on the west side is kind of out of the way for travelers on I-70. The KOA in Granite City seemed a little rough to us last time through. Many people have advised against the downtown campground.

Thanks RJR, but we are eastbound, and stopping at Columbia would make the trip the next day longer than I am comfortable driving.

You might try Edmund Babler State Park. Very nice with huge sites.

Sundermeier RV Park located at 111 Transit St. St. Charles, MO. Phone is 1-800-929-0832.
It is off I-70 (follow 370 to the park). It is a Good Sam park and has a 5 Star rating from Woodalls. Safe Travels

We have used Sundermeiers for years. The park is very nice with all concrete roads, curbs, & pads. No pool, playground, or game room. The cost is close to $50/ night, but there was always the nice restaurant on site. Sadly, when we stayed last June, the restaurant was closed with a sign that the owners had retired.
We stayed again in early September since it really fits our daily travel schedule to a sports car event in Nebraska. Restaurant still closed, but we drove the motorhome into St. Charles, parked at the Louis & Clark museum along the river, and found a nice restaurant for dinner.

Sundermeier's is definitely nicer than Downtown park, but I usually stay downtown due to is location to The Hill, Downtown, and to our friends. Downtown Park is totally fenced with a gate with a Police Station directly across the street. I have never had any issues with safety. If you are pulling a trailer or very long it is a little harder to get level. Sundermeier's spots are more level, if you are just spending the night and not going any where once you get parked either will do, but Sundgermeier's is nicer. I am not sure that Downtown St Louis RV Park isn't more convenient and is further East of where you are going to the East. Good luck!

Thanks to all of you who posted ideas. We stopped at Sundermeiers for the night. It is a very well kept park. Clean, with long, level paved spots. It is adjacent to a county park with a trail for walking the dog,and stretching the legs from a long day on the road. It is indeed a little pricey, but when we travel, we budget to be able to enjoy our stops.
