I am planning a trip in my 37 Foot MH this Fall. One leg of the trip will be St. Paul to Great Falls in mid-September. The trip has a dual-purpose. I am visiting some old friends and also scouting routes and destinations for a 8 Month USA/Canada trip with DW next year.

I am looking for suggestions as to routes and attractions. Mostly interested in various State & National parks as well as unusual museums, etc.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Hello 'bluepill':

Couple of questions:........ 1. Will you be towing another vehicle for site-seeing ? 2. In general, what areas of the U.S. and Canada do you hope to travel in during your 8 month trip ?

My wife and I retired out of Duluth back in 05 and travel all over the place (including Alaska) as real full timers. There are SO many places to visit and things to see, it's tough responding to your inquiry without knowing the areas you're interested in, and, whether you'll have a tow vehicle so you may park for a time in some spot and tour around that area before moving on.

Sounds like it'll be a great trip though.

Take Highway 2 across at least North Dakota and Montana to Havre. Then down to Great Falls from Havre. Highway 2 is four lane most of the way across ND and 2 lane from Williston to Havre. The freeway goes kinda south whereas Highway 2 goes straight across the top. When we went across in 2008, Highway 2 was in good shape.

Highway 2 is mostly 2 lane in Upper MIchigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. But lots of scenery.

Thanks for the reply. This Fall on my solo trip I will be carrying a small motorcycle on a hitch carrier. When we do the big trip next year, we will have an SUV as a toad. The plan is to use the MH as a "Mothet Ship" - probably park it near major roads, then use the toad to do the actual sight-seeing.

At this point we haven't done much research, but certainly the great parks are at the top of the list.

We expect to travel most states in the West and Midwest and South. We have already spent a lot of time in the East, since that's where we live.

Any suggestions about other attractions that you have found to be interesting will be appreciated.

Excellent advice! We traveled US 2 from MN to Glacier NP. There is a lot to see and do along that route, even though from the highway you see little but open prairie. Havre MT is a must do/see. Havre Underground is a small town below street level for enduring the cold, snowy, winters. Visit the MT, ND, state visitors/recreation website for things to do/see along the way. The Blackfoot Indian reservation, West of Cut Bank on US 2 is quite interesting too.
