That would be Buccaneer State Park. We stayed there last April, it was quite nice. I know they got hit during the hurricane last August, but don't know how bad. It was completely wiped out after Katrina and was still being rebuilt last Spring.

Re: Buccaneer Sp, that would be rebuilding as in listening to a pile driver running all day, as well as trains lumbering by several times a day! Nice place, but I couldn't wait to get out of there this past spring (late April). If they're still talking about being in the "rebuilding" phase, ask them about the pile drivers. If they're still using them "a couple hours a day", I would suggest you keep moving to the next park...

We moved to Fontainebleau SP for the rest of our stay in that area and enjoyed it immensely! Moss hanging from the big oaks in several areas there, pretty nice. Fontainebleau State Park - Louisiana Office of State Parks

Good! It said 'closed indefinitely' the day I posted, which was Oct. 4. Glad they got it opened back up...

In 08 I stayed at "Fairview Riverside" state park and loved it. It's north but not much of a drive to downtown. C.O.E park maybe. Way better than any California state park.!

A Google Earth Street View (Apr 2011) is available for Bayou Segnette State Park. Take the tour.
