Staying in Bend Or
We are going to Bend Oregon for one week in August staying at the Crown Villa RV resort. First time to this part of the State. Just my wife, wiener dog and me in our Beaver. My older parents will join us in their Empress also. Can anyone give us some ideas what to do in Bend?

Shopping, biking, hiking, trip to Mt bachelor, trip to Diamond lake and Crater lake. Trip up to Sisters, trip down to Fort rock and a Crater in that area, a volcanic area just south of bend on the west side of the hyway. Lots to do down town if you hit a time of street fairs or art walks. Fishing near by.

I'd suggest you visit the high desert museum just south of Bend.

About all the above recommendations work well... if you love to fish or even better flyfish Bend is simply Heaven on Earth !
Sisters downtown is quite an easy daytrip, the volcanic Park south of town is easy to see, easy walking, nice daytrip.
Summers the downtown Farmers Market is great to sample the local fare.
You do know Crown Villa is very very selective on what rigs are allowed ?????? Last there in 2005/2006 and they were very nicely maintained.
We much prefered the Thousand Trails Bend/SunRiver Preserve. Close to awesome flyfishing, close to SunRiver which is a several day affair to see it all. There is also a Resorts of Distinction affiliated preserve across Hwy 97 as you near LaPine, Or.
Envy you the trip it is an awe inspiring place, to us at least !!!

It's a beautiful area. We stayed in the Crown years ago and it was excellent and probably even better now. We're going to the Rally in July at Redmond which is just north of Bend. I Googled Redmond and asked the Chamber of Commerce to send us an area info packet.....Bend probably has similiar if you haven't tried it yet. Have a great trip.

Stayed at Crown Villa last August, a little pricey, but a very nice RV park. A float down the river for a couple of miles is great (if you have someone to pick you up).

Further to my earlier post, we just received our May/June copy of the Where to Retire magazine and it has a great article on Bend, Oregon. Lots of good info. It lists the Bend Chamber of Commerce www.bendchamber.org and a Visit Bend site www.visitbend.com .
Enjoy and happy travels.
