This will be our first time RV'ing to Florida. We just picked up a new 2008 Winnebago 31J and would like to try camping at the beach.
Thanks for any input or suggestions for us new Campers.

If you're going to Navarre you will be camping along the bay. You will have to cross over the bridge to get to the beach. In Destin there is the Camping on the Gulf Campground which is beach camping.

I join the others with a warm welcome to IRV2 . Since you are the proud owner of a new Winnebago, be sure and join us in the Winnebago Owners forum.
I see you are from TN and, while Florida is a great place, some of the best ocean/beach RVing is to be had in Myrtle Beach, SC. We just got back from Ocean Lakes RV park in south MB and had a site right on the ocean. If you go before Memorial Day or after Labor Day, it is a great place to kick back and enjoy the beach, eat some great seafood, shop or enjoy one of the great live shows.

Welcome to iRV2. Consider Ho Hum RV park. It is out of the way, not much for kids to do, but a nice, on the beach, CG. Reasonable rates. Go here and check it out.

Ho Hum in Carrabelle is nice. Nice quiet area. The have quite a few pull in spaces facing and just a few feet from the water. All of these are 30 amp except #41 which is the only 50 amp on-the-water site. Unpaved sites.
Topsail in Destin is one of the nicest state park you'll find. One of the few that you'll find full hook-ups including very good cable TV. Most sites have too many trees for satellite. Not the cheapest state park that you'll every stay in. Half price to over 65 and handicap. It's about a 3/4 mile walk/bike ride to the beach. All paved sites.
Emerald Beach RV Resort in Navarre a favorite of ours. Nice amenities including a Tiki hut overlooking the beach area. Some back-in sites with knock your socks of views of the beach. All paved sites. Picture below was taken there.
Enjoy the area!

WELCOME! We like Henderson Beach State Park in Destin. But, it is a very popular State park and reservations should be made 11 months in advance, although I have known people to get a campsite for 2 or 3 nights by calling. Topsail is a beautiful State park but very pricey. Twice what Henderson Beach is. We have also stayed at Emerald Beach and Navarre Beach at private campgrounds. Topsail hill has a trolley that takes you to the beach.
Have fun and have a safe trip!!
