Suggestions/opinions for HH/Savannah area

On our way down to Disney we want to tour Hilton Head, Tybee Island , and Savannah. This will be over the 4th of July. We are not sure where to call home for a few days. We have 2 kiddos 8 and 6. Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Thank you and happy new year!

There is a great campground just as you go on to Hilton Head. Hilton Head Harbor and RV Resort and Marina It is a private resort on the intercostal very nice.

The campground on Tybee Island Home .

Then just a few miles from our home in Richmond Hill Fort McAllister Historic Park | Georgia State Parks

All three are nice depends on what you are looking for. Depending on when you arrive give us a shout, but we are leaving for a Scallop trip the 3rd.

Both of the RV resort parks on Hilton Head are quite pricey. There is a good no frills park in Hardeeville, SC. Thomas's RV Park is a PA park and located between HHI and Savannah. It is very convenient to all of the area and is nice and quiet.

The resort and marina on HH was the one I was looking at. I will also check out Hardeeville as well. Is the CG on HH close to any beaches? As far as price it may be higher than we usually pay but considering the area I didn't think its too far out of line. We are also going to St. Augustine and you want to talk expensive? Bryn Mahr is $102/night!! And that's not even beach side. No.....we are not staying their.

Here are a few places you can stay in and around St. Augustine. Not sure of the rates but pretty sure they are less than the over priced Bryn Mawr.
Indian Forest
Stagecoach
Anastasia State Park
*Beverly Beach CG* On the ocean between Marineland and Flagler Beach.

St Augustine was an after thought. Anastasia is booked. I think we are staying at North Beach.

Neither of the parks on HHI are on the beach. In fact, there are only two public beaches on HHI. If you do want to go to St. Augustine look at St. John's RV Park. It is a PA park and not expensive, but good access to the city, about 5 miles.

It looks like we decided on Savannah for our base camp. We have stayed at Savannah Oaks several years ago. According to their website it seems as if it has been updated somewhat. I also have been looking at Red Gate Farms CG. The reviews for this are split right down the middle...wither very good or very bad. Anybody have any insight on this?

We live in the area and are not thrilled with either park. A similar park Is Rivers End at Tybee. Your near the beach about 16 mi from downtown Savannah and at the beach.

We had thought about Tybee. Our neighbors went last summer. They said they would not return. We are torn....

We stayed in a state park on Skidaway Island. Its really wooded and off the beaten path so your kids would enjoy the "camping" feel of the park but you might not like it in your Challenger

We stayed at Red Gate Farms last March and really enjoyed our stay. It's a very small park with no activity schedule. Majority of the sites are out in the open however we stayed in one of their 3 premium sites and it was absolutely lovely. It is family owned park and the owners live onsite and are available by cell phone if needed.. They allow you to walk freely around the farm and there are trails around the ponds in which you can walk your dogs free of leashes. It was very close to Savannah and as a matter of fact we are thinking about making a pit stop our way to Florida in February.

You will love North Beach in St. Augustine. We live about an hour away and go a least once a month. Three wonderful restaurants within walking distance and a friendly feeling about the whole campground. Try to get on the river loop if you can.
