Danforth Bay (danforthbay.com) and their affiliated RV park next door, The Bluffs RV Resort. Located in the lakes region of NH. Probably sold out for the summer, but they have a waiting list. We got in for Memorial Day weekend off the waiting list. Once you're in, you get first dibs on the same space the next year if you reserve before you leave. A bit pricey, but a beautiful area.

Both of those are open year-round, which is uncommon up there.

FDchief, Last summer I spent some time in New England area. I drove HI way 1 from the New Hampshire state line to the most northern most eastern campground in the US in Eastport.
I also spent some time in the New Found Lake area of New Hampshire. It was a good base camp for exploring the White Mountain area.
Hearer are some of the campgrounds I used.
Wild Duck Campground, 39 Dunstan Landing Rd, Scarborough, ME 04074
wildduckcampground.com ,(207) 883-4432,
Great location just south of Portland and not far from Old Orchard Beach resort area.
Don’t forget to go to Freeport Maine, home of LL Bean and is a huge outlet store area.
Look at the outlet shops around Kittery Main on the state line.
This is the NH. camp ground.
Newfound RV Park, 792 Mayhew Turnpike, Bristol, NH 03222
newfoundrvpark.com ,(603) 744-3344
If you don't have reservations in the moody Beach Wells Beach area you won't get in, make reservations today.
Moody Beach RV Campground, 266 Post Rd, Wells, ME 04090, rvonthego.com , (207) 646-4586
Now going north from Portland we went to Arcadia National Park and stayed a little south at a nice rustic place on the south side of Ellsworth ME. You can try to get in to one of the RV parks near Bar Harbor but they were full when I was there.
Forest Ridge Campground, 40 Flockamoosen Way, Ellsworth, ME 04605 , forestridgecampground.com , (855) 299-6969
Then went to the most Northern and Eastern campground in the US.
Seaview Campground & Cottages, 16 Norwood Rd, Eastport, ME 04631, eastportmaine.com , (207) 853-4471
From there we drove the toad to, Roosevelt Campobello International Park, Welshpool, NB E5E 1A4, Canada , fdr.net , +1 506-752-2922
Be shure you have your Passports. Had a good day touring the Roosevelts home and the island.
We spent some time in Canada at Quebec City The only fortified city in North America. Did a tour of the Citadel which is still an active military installation. Stayed hear.
Camping Juneau Chalets, 153 Chemin du Lac, Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, QC G3A 1W7, Canada, campingjuneau.com , +1 418-871-9090
Moved down and spent some time in Montreal at the, Montreal South KOA, 130 Montée Monette, St Philippe de Laprairie, QC J0L 2K0, Canada, koa.com , +1 450-659-8626 , Gives you a chance to practice your French.

If you're interested in southern New England, look at Ashaway RV Resort in Ashaway, Rhode Island. It is only 2 years old and offers lots of resort type activities etc. It is close to historic Mystic Seaport and Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos in Connecticut. You would be minutes away from the Rhode Island coastline and all its numerous beaches, lighthouses, ferries and restaurants. An hour away is Newport ..take a bay cruise, travel the scenic 10 mile ocean drive passing by the mansions of Rockerfeller, Duke, Vanderbilts, etc, tour the mansions, and don't miss all the yachts that pull in to the harbor. American Cup races were held in Newport. There are farmers markets, kite festivals, seafood festivals, a nice time to be in NE. Enjoy!

Again, thanks to all for the suggestions. I have my Atlas out, my browser open to campgroundreviews.com, and my woodalls CG directory at my disposal. I know that it is different than traveling the west, but know that with preparation and the help provided by all of you that this summer will be a blast!

You may also want to carry along a pot large enough to cook your own lobstah. We never travel to Maine without one. You can pickup lobster from just about any small dock along the coast.

Great tip. And for those concerned about getting that giant pot to boil in the RV, you can use an inch of water in the bottom and steam the lobster for 20 minutes. I never boil them.

After spending 40 summers in Maine, I can tell you that no pot is needed. The lobsters taste much better when grilled. Cut the belly of the lobster longitudinally, stuff it with butter and seasonings, wrap in in aluminum foil and throw it on the grill. The result is more tasty because the flavor is not soaked out by the water, and the grilled lobster is not soggy and spongy like a boiled lobster.

X 2 on the lobster on the grill. Also Lake George RV, Normandy Farms, Aces High and I would toss in Atlantic Oaks on the Cape. Hampton Beach is a great stop and with your coach, you can always dry camp in the field next to the park for a few days if you can't get a spot.
Don't worry about the small stuff. New England is a very rewarding place to visit and with just a little research you'll be good to go.

I suspect you will find Oatmeal's opinions to be very accurate. I was born in CT and cannot find anyplace that I would go back to. State parks were built by the CCC in the 1930's with little improvement since then. It is common to find your electrical connection to be an outlet box attached to a tree. 50 amp service is not the norm. One place I stayed in CT advertised free WiFi only to find they were talking about the Panera Bread Company store down the street. That being said I did find a campground you might like in Stowe Vermont called Gold Brook. It doesn't have great reviews but the electric was reliable, water tasted good and I didn't waste time talking to the staff. Stowe is an interesting small town and it is a straight drive to the Ben and Jerry's ice cream factory which is not as big as you would think. The roads getting to Stowe were not treacherous but were not like an interstate. Driving a big rig in New England will not exactly be care free. The interstates have pot holes and expansion gaps and few of the state roads are wide or straight. Gas prices tend to be some of the highest in the country so budget accordingly. Lake George is also a nice area to explore in your toad.

Oh yeah. Up in Harrington, ME. at Sunset Campground the owner will cook & deliver to your coach lobstah for $7lb. At least that's what it was last year. We'd get 5 or 6, pick & eat with plenty left over for huge lobster salads the next day.

I noticed Gold Brook when we took a day trip to Stowe, and it looked big-rig friendly. It's a skinny road, but not treacherous.
Nearby, in Burlington, Vermont, there's a place called North Beach Campground, run by the city. It has some sites that would hold my 40-foot motorhome--a row of them side by side and pretty tight. However, the entrance was too low. I read somewhere that you can get them to stop traffic from coming out the exit, and use the exit to enter the campground.
That's the sort of thing that big rig RVing up there can involve.
