Sunland Casino/Racetrack

This place was mentioned on IRV2 quite a few years ago but it may have been forgotten so here it is again.

We had the opportunity to stop here on March 2-3 and it was excellent. They have 8 sites with 30/50 amp svc and water. They do have a dump site located at the Horsemans entrance which is fine once you find it.

The cost per nite is $5.00 and this is good for 30 days then you have to leave for 5 days. Now that is some cheap camping. They also have a large area for boondocking.

Excellent buffets starting at 5 PM 7 days a week along with lunch buffet each day. No breakfasts are served.

The phone number for the Casino is 505.874.5255 and you would need to talk to the security desk as they handle the rv registrations.

To get to this place, take exit 13 off of I-10 just between Anthony and El Paso, Texas. Go south on Sunland Parkway for 1.5 miles and it will be on the left just across the RR tracks. No trains run on it so it is quiet.You also get the pleasure of watching the horses being exercised in the morning and the races in the afternoon.

A wee bit of road construction in the area of the tracks so there may be a detour, Just follow the signs.

Sunland Mall, a HUGH shopping center is about 2 miles away.
