Sunpass question

I have the portable Sunpass transponder that you can move between vehicles. I have used it several times in my car and it always detects my axle count correctly. I recently used it on the Florida turnpike around Miami on my motorhome while towing my car. It was mounted on the motorhome windshield. It detected at each toll booth, but sometimes it detected 3 axles,4 axles or at the first entrance it detected 5 axles. With the RV and car I had a total of 4 axles. Anyone else experience such inconsistency?

If it detected 3 axles some times, 4 or 5 the others, did it average out to 4?

I looked at my account and it was 2 times for 3 axles, 2 times for 4 axles and 1 for 5 axles. I went to the sunpass calculator site to see what the total tolls should have been for 4 axles and my charges were about $2 less than it should have been. I'll see what happens a few weeks from now on a second trip. I guess I can't complain - I was just curious about the causes for the miscounting axles problem.

What I see is accurate. Not sure why it would not count axles properly, as you cross a counter in the road.
I have a 3 axle fiver, and if connected, I always get the 5 axle count.
We were in Miami in January, took camper to CG, and drove around, all tolls were correct, as I keep an eye on that.
Was it raining during your trip?

Not raining - just overcast. It was blustery. What technology do they use to count axles?
