Tahoe Valley Campground

Hi everyone. A friend of mine was telling about Tahoe Valley Campground in South Lake California. He speaks hi of it and the info I found on the web showed it to look pretty good. A few less than stellar reviews.

Has anyone here every camped there? What was your opinion? Would you go back?

Thanks!

Camped there about 4 years ago in very early spring.
It was OK, but after a couple of days we moved to Zephyr Cove, on the Nevada side. It was a lot more convenient to the ski areas and other things that we were interested in. Also believe Zephyr is more beautiful.

That's in South Lake Tahoe, California on US 89 just off US 50? RV Park Reviews :: South Lake Tahoe, California ( CA ) - RV Parks and Campground Reviews lists several in the area.

Campground by the Lake is near there. Here's a photo gallery.
Campground by the Lake - South Lake Tahoe

South Lake Tahoe has lots of trees and folks who revere them to a fault. That tends to mean campgrounds with narrow roads that need a lot of care avoiding branches and making corners. It is also a place where winter weather can be severe and summer traffic in the same category.

It shouldn't be too much trouble from N NV to take an afternoon tour and go see what you think for what you want to do and your rig and how you like things. It's a beautiful drive but that grade up US 50 from Carson City is quite a slog.

They have been upgrading US 50 through SLT and that might help a bit with traffic.

Yes, we have stayed there several times over the years. Nice campground for the kids. We have considered staying at others but always return to Tahoe Valley. Like all campgrounds, it may or may not serve your needs. We have had a good experience there over the years and the staff has always tried to be accomindating.

Good luck!

We've stayed there. I've been to worse. I'd go back if need be. You need reservations in the July, August time frame.
