Pinellas County Park - Ft. Desoto is very nice ... about $45/night with the various taxes.

Pinellas County, Florida, Park & Conservation Resources - Fort De Soto Park

Check Hillsborough River State Park, Lithia Springs Hillsborough County Park, E.G. Simmons Hillsborough County Park , Little Manatee River State Park . Tampa South RV is an option for a commercial park .

Try Welcome To Happy Traveler RV Park

At I-75 and US-301 a bit northeast of Tampa with easy access to Lazy Days and Cummins and the east side of Tampa in the USF area.

Hillsborough river state park a yes yes yes.
Lithia springs is good also.
I liked EG Simmons except for the very aggressive and annoying sand fleas. They were very thick and I fled after one day. Get rid of those and the place is great.
Little manatee is nice but a little far off not much there to do.

Check out edward medard park, county park No reservations. Should not be to hard to get a spot this time of year. Nice sites and lots to do in the park just a bit east brandon not far from downtown tampa.

X2 on Happy Traveler RV Park. Don't expect a "resort" if you decide to stay here. There are a lot of permanent campers and all the assorted stuff that goes with that. The campground is very old but it's very reasonably priced. We stay here when we go to Busch Gardens - very short drive to the park.

Lazydays Campground in Seffner. Easy access to I-4 at Exit 10 and you get a newspaper, breakfast and lunch included. The campground is clean, pool is nice and paved roads make walking around easy.

Great location. Well maintained. Always busy though, so call & reserve.

Tampa South Rv Resort; actually in Ruskin a few minutes from either Tampa or Sun City. This is just your basic camp ground. Gravel sites with paved patio. Fairly close sites but not to the point of feeling crowded in. Full hook up, pool, club house, and adjacent to a small county park that is excellent for walking the dog.
Lots of seasonal residents that put on several activities from pitch ins to theme parties. Place is well maintained, staff and people very friendly.
We stay there when ever visiting brother in Sun City.

Does Lazydays still do the breakfast/lunch deal? Last time we were there in 2012 or 2013, they said they were no longer offering it for free but campers were welcome to go and purchase meals.

If you stay in the campground, you get meal coupons. That is good for the basic meal or you can use the coupon toward any other meal offering. The coupon is worth $5 toward any meal.
