Hey all, we are planning to do a Tampa to Washington DC trip this August and I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a nice campground to overnight at somewhere in South Carolina or North Carolina?
We aren't in a huge rush so I was planning to drive for 9-10 hours the first day which should put us in northern SC.
Any suggestions/recommendations are appreciated.

If you make it a bit further, I'd stay at the RVacation near Selma NC. around mile marker 96 in NC. Lots of services in the area.
Otherwise, I usually rely on the site, www.rvparkreviews.com for suggestions.
safe travels

My son tells me south of the border at the sc nc line is a good layover and inexpensive. I think the campground is on the se corner of the intersection.

GetnBusy,
There is a Passport America park in Dillon SC, Bass Lake RV Park. It is the northern most exit in SC on I-95. 1 exit south of the South of the Border exit (which is in NC) and 1 exit north of a Harbor Freight distribution center if your into those places. Good LP prices as well. Check to see what folks have said about it:

We like staying at the New Green Acres CG in Walterboro, SC. But, a CG closer to the half way point would be South Of The Border in Dillon, SC. What ever you do, you want to get to the CG in Washington, DC BEFORE rush hour. Traffic at any time of day is a bad, but at rush hour it is a nightmare.
