If you decide on June and plan on visiting middle TN, including Nashville, avoid the week of June 8th. Two HUGE music festivals go on in Middle TN that week....CMA Fest in Nashville and Bonnaroo in Manchester (around an hour southeast of Nashville). Traffic is a nightmare, and everything is a zoo. It's a good week for locals to leave town. Both festivals run from June 11-15.

Thanks Dave, We have decided to do Tennessee in early May. So far the plan is to go in one shot from Ct. to Asheville NC. then to Knoxville,Chattanooga,Memphis then onto Nashville. From Nashville going through Kentucky and ending up in Berlin Ohio Amish country. The plan is to stay two nights at each destination but if we really like were we are or there is more we want to see or do we will stay longer.

You will need to do some research and actually make reservations to go see them... but it is such a neat event..... Best wishes and safe travels.
If you are in Gatlinburg, you may take the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail and see the synchronized fireflies without the crowds.
