+1. Only problem is it was under water al summer due to flooding back around Memorial Day. Last time I checked a month or so back, they still hadn't re-opened.

We stayed there last Christmas night in our previous 5th wheel. We took delivery of our MADP on 12/26. Went out the gate with a F350 DRW and 43' 5th wheel, then came back in that afternoon with a 07 MADP. We returned in Feb for some warranty issues and got snowed in for 3 days. It is a very nice place to hole up for a few days.

We've stayed all over the state this year. Some of our favorites are Farm Country outside of Bandera, Bluebonnet Ridge in Terrell (east of Dallas) Palo Duro Canyon state park, and The Lost Alaskan in Alpine. We're presently in Maverick Ranch in Lajitas and headed back to the Lost Alaskan. See as much as you can. This year we were in the Valley, Panhandle, north Texas, east Texas, the Hill Country and now the Big Bend. Lots to see.

We loved South Padre Island, we stayed at the KOA. Really nice bar down the pier. Also there was a great Fish and Chip place on the Island, can't remember the name but they had two places at opposite ends of the town. The Turtle Rescue place was awesome.

Texas has a great State Park system. I haven't stayed in all of them but I haven't stayed at any of them that I would not go back to. Most do not have sewer connections at the campsites so moving to dump the holding tanks every three of four days is a little inconvenient but well worth the experience of staying at the parks. Buy the annual park pass for $70.00, it's well worth it. Keep an eye on the weather and move south as it starts getting cold. We spent most of a winter staying at a state park for a week or so, then went to an RV park for a few days to do laundry, soak in a hot tub, etc. Then we'd move on to a different state park.
