Texas coast camping Padre, Galveston?

I will be in the Houston, Galveston, Padre Island, San Antonio area in early November thinking of about 2-3 weeks.

Plan on Space Center, San Antonio Riverwalk.. other than that?? suggestions?
Open to just about anything interesting. Never been in this area before and probably won't get back there.

Anyone have any suggestions on campgrounds at that time of year...
Coming from Lafayette, La. to Houston (space center) then want to
go to the coast Galveston - Padre Island -Port Arnasas (never been to
this area... need suggestions) then go to San Antonio.

Where to stay, how long, what to do?

Thanks all...

I'd try to go to Big Bend National Park if you can. I find the desert and mountains (yes, 7,285 foot Emory Peak) fascinating.

We went through that area last winter and enjoyed Goose Island State Park near Rockport. Excellent birding and one night had dolphins splashing around (fishing?) in front of our campsite - which is right up to the shoreline.

If you are into it... boondocking on Padre Island National Seashore is memorable, exciting, and cheap. The most exciting part for me being when first driving the motorhome on the sand-packed beach. Only got used to it after a half mile or so.

Also, taking the free ferry ride in Port Aransas is something to experience. They loaded us first and crammed in cars around us.

In Galveston they have a state park with RV spots right on the ocean. You have electric & water, but only a central dump station. There are also a couple RV parks in town that are on, or close to the water that are nice.

Check out the Nueces County RV park on Mustang Island, in the town of Port Aransas ..... I. B. Magee Beach Park. We have stayed there several times. Right next to the shipping channel into Corpus Christi. See lots of freighters, oilers, fishing boats quietly passing through, even saw the USS Reagan one time. Thrilling!

We are work camping now and all winter at Pioneer Rv Resort in Port Aransas. We love it. Great people here, and walk to beach, and more.

I would be terrified that my RV would get stuck!!! but that looks like a ton of fun. I wasn't impressed with Galveston beach, but the state campsites mentioned are right at the beaches edge and well maintained. I stayed at Jamaica Beach Rv park, it was just across the road and a very nice park ,full hookups and amenities. I would recommend them anytime. The town of Galveston is really nice and has a ton of history to do and see. The Stand is a great little collection of shops and stuff.
I think Port Aransas will be my next beach stop, water there is much better than Galveston. I will have to investigate Goose Island and rockport further
