texas vs florida

Have spent a lot of time in florida thought we would try something different. We r in southern texas much more friendly people and more resonable than florida. Would recommend south texas over florida anyday. It seems here they appreciate our business where in florida they expect it.

Florida used to be the Sunshine State. Now it is better known as God's Waiting Room. Florida would just as soon you send your money but stay home. Texas says Come on down but bring money and we'll show you a good time.

Being a Florida ,resident I hate to admit it but Texas is much more friendly than Florida.

We would love to return to Texas BUT at the same latitude, it is colder than Florida. In Texas it can get cold, and stay cold for days on end. In Florida, it may get cold, but the warm weather rsume the next day or the day after at the lastest.

Also, the RGV is a little too close to the border for us.

Does FL have much wind? We spent most of a winter in Livingston, TX and there was very little wind. I hear that is it's a different story in the RGV.

In our opinion, wind is not a issue in Florida.

When we spent two years traveling Texas, we always looked for a site that would be "protected." My wife hates wind.

Wind is more of a issue in Texas than Florida.

Please do not flame me. Overall, I like Texas better than my home stat of Florida.

We've frequented the RVG Harlingen TX area and rather enjoy the area and yes, there's wind from time to time but IMO not unbearable and as others mentioned we found the folks to be very friendly.

We plan to spend a month or so there beginning Feb 4th or 5th.

The further south you go in Florida, the greater the day to day rat-race stress on the natives increases, at least along the coasts. I equate it to too many rats in the same maze. I've lived here all my adult life, watching a semi-tropical paradise that was all hustle-bustle in "the season", and a virtual ghost town in the summer months morph into a year-round cartoon version of a state. Growth at any cost has been the mantra for many decades here and carpet bagging has always been an honored profession. I lived in Hollywood as a child, and as many before me and since have done, I began moving further and further north to escape the crush. But once the mouse arrived, the most serene part of the state, the innards, was toast also. There are plenty of pockets left that are slower paced and as friendly as anywhere else where the population density is not maxed out, but dade, broward and palm beach counties are IMO only, septic fields. But hey, I'm warmer today than 90% of Texas. Smiles!

I have found no problem with the wind here in the rgv. As far as the border was over in mexico at progresso two days ago found it very safe people there are exellent i have done extensive travel in mexico and never had a problem. American people are followers and will not venture out and believe everything they hear. Many americans go to progresso everyday we had to wait in line to come back threw customs so many people there. Most of the people here in southern texas have been to florida and will not return.

Florida has "Snowbirds."

In Texas we love "Winter Texans."

I call them "Telephone Bugs" because they are always "hung-up."
