Thanksgiving

We are leaving Ontario Nov.5 for our first trip south. Thought we would just meander down - no set plans. Are we going to wind up in a Walmart parking lot on Thanksgiving? What are our chances of finding a site? We are thinking of heading to Knoxville, Ashville, Charleston and Savanah OR Natchez Trace down to the gulf. I guess once we decide we should make some plans and phone calls. Anyone with a driveway long enough for a 32 foot fiver, 2 really nice people, 1 sweet dog and 1 crazy but sometimes sweet dog? We will bring food.

We have to know which Thanksgiving are you talking about; ours (next Monday) or theirs (next month) and then we can give you a better answer.

I've traveled twice on the American Thanksgiving weekend, also in the Knoxville - Nashville area. I had no problems finding campsites. I would suggest that once you have an idea of where you will be, call ahead to check campsite availability.

Watch the weather to see any snow storms that are going to hit the mountains. Snowshoe WV. received 6" to 8" of snow last weekend...Check it out Snowshoe ski resort video page

Hi portliz,
Consider the Sevierville, TN area. It is about 13 miles (four lane highway) from I40 exit 407 in TN. There is a lot to do. The Christmas show will be in full swing. Go to Smoky Mountain Winterfest Lights of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville Winter Festival and read about it. There are many CGs to choose from. A popular one and close to the shows is River Plantation. Go to River Plantation RV Park - The Smokies Premier RV Destination, Sevierville, TN* 1-800-758-5267 and read about it.
