Since you'll be in the area of Canton (Hall of Fame) I suggest a visit to Holmes County. Largest Amish settlement in the US with lot's of good food, shopping, scenery, and some really nice RV parks including Evergreen Park in Dundee.

I agree that you should travel to Holmes County and see the Amish and be sure to visit a store called Lehman's. www.lehmans.com

Checkout Ohio State Parks specifically Delaware State Park just north of Columbus (for Columbus area giving you decent driving access to Columbus Zoo) and East Habor on Lake Erie (both area RV/Big Rig friendly and less than $30-35 per night). East Habor will allow an easy drive to the fairies for Put-in-Bay and Marblehead Lighthouse (both worth a visit). Cedar Point is a fantastic amusement park as shared in an earlier post. If you want to visit Cincinnati I highly recommend Winton Woods (see greatparks.org), a county park with great full hook-ups sites and is gated. This will provide easy access to Cincinnati (Reds, Bengals, Newport Aquarium, the city itself, and Kings Island). Hocking Hills is absolutely a beautiful state park and worth the trip. Dayton (home of the Air Force Museum) has a nice KOA. Ohio is a friendly state to visit with some great attractions.

I forget to check back in & everybody beat me to suggestions & have the state covered. Just pick a region of the state & have fun.

One point of note, since you're asking about September, both Cedar Point & King's Island are open only on weekends after Labor Day. Just an FYI in case you try to go to either one, although you may not with having the pup.

Also many of the Ohio State Parks offer Passport America discounts during the weekdays.

We stayed at Winton Woods for a week last month and were among a group that had to run our generators because of persistent power brown-outs. Other than the bad electricity, I agree that it is a nice and very well-situated park.

Heads Up!

See & Do in Ohio in September

Maybe catch a Cleveland Indians or Cincinnati Reds game. Indians will be in the peanut race and sadly the Reds will not although we have been playing better lately.
