Things to See & Do in Ohio in September

We had been planning a sweep along the gulf coast from New England this fall but some family issues will require we don't stray too far just in case we need to quickly return home. Watching the Republican Convention has highlighted some nice things to see in Ohio, from which we could do a quick return home if necessary.

Guess I am looking for a list of things to visit and see in Ohio so I can start planning a trip. We are traveling with a dog, but can take turns seeing indoor things such as the Football Hall of Fame.

For a great steak dinner Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse. It's in Public Square
https://www.zomato.com/cleveland/hyd...ouse-cleveland

Public Square offers many restaurants, it's a small area easy to walk around.

You might also like the Flats. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attracti...land_Ohio.html

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. https://www.rockhall.com

If you get towards Cincinnati my DW run sadly rescue we can dog sit for you. We also have 50 amp service and water in the driveway and a dump on the way out of the drive way

Not sure we have any particular place in mind, although I know my wife wants to see the Football Hall of Fame. Other than that its wide open. My only restriction is being able to get home within 24 hours if I need to. Would love to see the Columbus Zoo, but can't with the dog.

The dog seems to handicap you a bit. We travel with ours and have a cage we keep her in (inside) when we leave, just to be sure she doesn't destroy our coach!

Columbus has a lot to offer; great Zoo (as was mentioned), Cols Crew pro soccer, good places to eat & visit. Ohio State Football game??

I'm from Cincinnati, so we too have a great Zoo, you can book a lunch (I think) or dinner on a riverboat (they technically launch from Northern KY), depending how late, you could catch a Reds game or Bengals game. Kings Island, if you're into amusement parks? There are micro breweries scattered all over town if that's your thing?

On Labor Day Cinti has a huge gathering that is capped off with an enormous fireworks display, shot off from barges in the Ohio River.

More northern Ohio their is the Neil Armstrong museum, Cedar Point (another amusement park), Lake Erie, Put In Bay. Serpent Mound Park (http://www.greatserpentmound.com)

Hocking Hills is supposed to be very pretty park and CG. I've not had a chance to get there yet, however. (http://www.hockinghills.com/)

It's a pretty state and while you might be a bit early for the changing of the leaves, you shouldn't have a hard time finding cool stuff to do and places to go!!

Best of luck and I hope you enjoy the O-H-I-O!

There are casinos in the southern part of Ohio and if you have kids with you, plenty of great museums for them to enjoy like at the old train station in Cincinnati.

X2. For indoorsy types, this is the largest war museum in the world. Impressive. Is on Wright Patterson AFB.

For outdoorsy types, we have always enjoyed the trails and variety of scenery at Hocking Hills State Park. Is in southeast Ohio.
