We'll be in Tom's Cove, Chincoteague, Va. May 3-11, 2008. If anyone will be there be sure to stop & say "Hi"! It'll be the maiden voyage of our Allegro Bay. I don't know what site we'll be on, but our coach is black/beige/burgandy. Jersey tags.

Wish I was going. We just got back from Myrtle Beach with our new rig on it's shake down. Its now back with the dealer for those minor adjustments that they all seem to need. Oh well as the once old wise man said "they are made in Indiana not Heaven".
Hope you trip goes well best of luck with the new coach. What part of south Jersey you from we are in Gloucester County?

We actually did an overnighter at Buena Vista last Saturday night. I spent a good amount of time making minor adjustments, figuring out new things, etc. Tom's Cove will be our first "real" trip. Thanks for the good luck wishes. It would be nice if you could go....we could figure what's further from heaven....Indiana or Red Bay, Al. (Tiffin's home)
We're also in Gloucester County.....Turnersville to be exact (Whitman Dr) How about you?
Who's your dealer? And, good luck in getting your repairs taken care of! Maybe we'll meet up someday!
-Tim

Yes I know that area of Washington Twp. We are located in West Deptford just off Kings Highway.
I notice in your signature you have black labs. I had two Chesapeake Bay Retrievers in past years and now we have one lazy Golden Retriever.
Well maybe we will catch up to you some day.

Hey Muck, Tom's Cove sounds like a wonderful spot. Can't say I think much of their reservation policies. What have they got against the telephone and confirming a reservation?

Never in that time have they had a policy of taking a reservation over the telephone. I have asked why and they say, "That's our policy."

They must have kin people that work for the government. "No Reason, Just Policy".
I sure wouldn't want to bet my vacation on their "policy".

Lest anyone get the wrong idea, Toms Cove CG is a great place at a great location. It's just that to get reservations you have to send a note and a check through the mail.
I kinda remember a lot of things used to be that way, back in the days before credit cards.

Frank,
I remember those times too, but they didn't cost #37 a night for water and electricity. That's all you are guaranteed at Tom's Cove.
<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content"> A reservation guarantees a campsite with water and electricity only. We cannot guarantee sewer hookup, specific sites or specific areas. Some sites may require extra water hose and\or extension cords and adapters </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
A lot of COE and NP or SPs have that in knock out setting for a lot less. As I said in my original post, it looks like an absolutely gorgeous place, however, their reservation system leaves a lot to be desired. I'm not traveling hundreds of miles in "hopes" of getting a sewer connection.
Enjoy your trip there.

Yes, their reservation policy is "antiquated" to say the least, but, having never been there, I park, ride my bike thru & pick out a decent site. I don't think they'll be too crowded. If I don't get a sewer site, well, it'll give me a chance to make sure there's no holding tank issues on my new coach, If there is, then look for the Allegro Bay with the stink & the flys gathering around it!
The beer will still be cold!

Be sure to do the wildlife drive over on Assateague Island, have a sunset meal at the Landmark Crab House and visit the Island Creamery in Chincoteague.

Ding-a-ling. Thanks for the tips. We'll get there Saturday afternoon, May 3. Will that be before the crowds? We won't be taking our TOAD along this trip, just the bicycles, but we've been to Assategue a dozen-or-so times. Is the Landmark Carb house in Chincoteague? Aproximately how far from Tom's Cove?
Again, thank you!

I wouldn't expect the area to be very crowded yet.
When you cross the drawbridge in to Chincoteague the Landmark Crab House is to the left about two blocks on the left, just before you make a right on Maddox Blvd. to go to the beach.
Bike riding around the wildlife drive is really great.
Enjoy!
