If you are going to Townsend, check out Tremont. It is on the river with decks at the camp sites overlooking the water. It is the last campground before the national park and the entrance to Cades Cove.

We stayed at Tremont last spring. Very nice, and closest to cades cove by a long shot. I really liked the covered deck overlooking the river.

Hi ejm4,
Consider Hidden Mountain Resort, The Dell Motor Coach Resort. Go to The Dell, a Class A Motorcoach Resort: Smokey Mountains, Tennessee and take a look. This is a first class place. Sites with water falls and fire places are available. One mile up Apple Valley Road and on the left. Gate controlled access, quite, nice mountain views and one mile behind the Titanic. There is a traffic light (12.6) to get you safely onto to main road where all the entertainment is.

How cold is too cold? We have been there for Thanksgiving with temps of 20 and water hoses frozen solid and shivering all day and been there in T-shirt weather. Our kids live there. Thanksgiving is too cold for me. If I have to wear long pants I get real grumpy. We told the kids if they want holidays with us they come south. Your mileage may vary.
