TopSail Hill Preserve Question
I have reservations there for June - but on a site that says the max vehicle length is 34 ft. That was fine last month - but we traded our 24ft MH in for a 37 ft MH. I've looked to change sites because I can't change the dates due to friends booked as well during that time. Doesn't seem to be any available that will fit our new MH. So ... I'm going to continue to look on line to see if anything comes up - but if not, do you think a 37 ft. MH will fit? Should I chance it?

Different site allow different lengths. They have backings that accommodate 43' plus a full size PU toad (103-107) come to mind, but I think all the section of pull throughs (4 rows) and the ring of back ins around the pull throughs. Other sites only take shorter. I'd call the reservations number and talk to a person there and see if you can't make the change. If you have a space that says 34ft it is probably a max.

Which site at Topsail do you have reserved? I am there often and am familiar with many of the sites. If it is a site in the first section when entering the park you may have a problem. Otherwise you will probably be OK.

3 things ... 1) you can look up Google Earth and find your site (you'll need the Topsail site map also) and have a better look, 2) you can also consider splitting up your stay across multiple sites ... a little inconvenient but not too bad, and 3) sometimes the site can still accommodate the RV but not the toad ... you'd have to park it in the overflow lot.

We routinely stay at Big Lagoon. The site we stay in is listed as only being able to accept a 35 foot rig. But, the site is 70 feet long. We have stayed there for 3 years in our 40 foot rig. The rangers tell us “if it fits, it’s fine with us”.

True ... but folks still need to understand the access route to any site may dictate what RV size is specified.

We have site 55 and site 54 reserved. Friend going with us has a 28 ft MH - so he would be fine. Both sites say 34 max.

A quick look at those sites shows site lengths of 65 ft. or more but the pictures show side obstructions. I think the limiting factor will be where your slides are located. I've had issues with sites like these and they took some creative positioning to get the slides and awnings between trees. If you don't deploy awnings you'll have less of an issue .... but June can be "warmish". 54 looks like a bigger RV would have fewer issues than 55. Just an opinion from looking at the pics ... real life could be different.

I think you will be fine in both of those sites. You may have to park your toad across from your site next to the laundry building.

Thanks
bruceisla and lakefront5 -
Thank you both very much! I am no longer stressing out! We can park the toad in our friends site as well and if we need to park it in the overflow, that is fine. I was just worried they would turn us away or we would be part way in the road. Feeling much, much better - thank you both!

Google Earth (not Google Maps) has a "Tool" that allows you to measure length on feet. Find your site, zoom in, click on tools, and use your cursor to find the exact length of your site. A really neat way to explore RV site size.
