St. James Parish authorities have confirmed that two people died Tuesday (Feb. 23) after a tornado hit the Sugar Hill RV Park in Convent.

Ambulances have taken at least 24 people from the scene, and some 100 campers and travel trailers were damages.

Sheriff Willy Martin said first responders are still trying to determine whether there is anyone missing from the RV park, where some 300 people live in 160 trailers. Some of the injured were brought to the hospital by private vehicles, making it difficult to determined the exact number of people injured, he said.

A hotline has been established for RV park residents to check in with authorities -- (225) 562-2364. Family members can also obtain information on relatives who live in the park, Martin said.

The National Weather Service counted seven tornadoes that touched down in Louisiana and Mississippi, where a third fatality was reported

We arrived in Texarkana from the west just after the severe weather pulled out to the east. A lot of flooding here. Knocking on wood for the timing. Our thoughts go out to those more affected.

Any damage sucks and feel for those folks but can anyone pick through those pics and see any motorhomes? Just curious if there is any difference due to weight in these types of events.
