Toronto to Myrtle Beach overnight stay

Hi all, I've used the search here to finalize my stay in Myrtle Beach this summer and some of the return trip, but I'm stuck on finding a location on the way south from Toronto. According to Google Maps, I'll be on 79 mid way through WV and needing an overnight stay. Any suggestions? Is 79 the best way down or should I be taking 95 instead?

Thanks in advance!

Toronto to Myrtle Beach overnight stay

We did this trip from Ottawa last July. Our mid stop was Cherry Hill , just outside Washington Dc, right off I95. Took a day and saw all the DC sites. From Ottawa we did I81 and I95. Best RV site around that area and noted as a Premier RV Resort. I give it a highly recommend.

Btw , we did outer banks before visiting myrtle beach and the OBX won, hands down as a return location. Myrtle was just too crazy and man O man, I don't understand the golf cart craze. We stayed at Ocean Lakes. Never again! Wouldn't even let me drive my motorcycle on their property.

Hope this helps....

Ack! We booked Ocean Lakes - and are doing Cherry Hill on the way back up. It seemed pretty well respected here. What didn't you like about it?

Willow tree is actually in Longs S.C. and I agree that it is the nicest place in the area.It is about 10 miles from North Myrtle Beach. Highway 31 will easily take You to the Myrtle Beach attractions.

Well...where do I start..lol already mentioned that my nice and quiet motorcycle was outlawed even tough the quiet diesel pusher is louder. This forces you to rent a golf cart which ends up being more expensive than the lot. Then there's the wall to wall teenagers bring around all day on golf carts. Trust me, picture 4pm on the Gardiner Express....that's the golf carts on the beach front road at night. Fireworks every night...nice at first. ..crazy after 2 or 3 nights in a row. Hard to find golf cart parking for the beach...best to walk. Long long lines for fast food or ice cream. Anyway...I will say I'd you like to party and have teens...it will be a blast
If you like privacy and quiet. ..try elsewhere.
He good reviews I saw were mostly after the peak summer months. I'll bet with the exception if the silly motorcycle thing. ..I may have had a better time in Sept.

At least it's mostly quiet by 11pm.

Our NE. Ohio to Myrtle Beach over night stop is in Wytheville Virginia. Fort Chiswell campground at I-77 and I-81. Easy in / easy out. Only 3/10 mile off the freeway, but tucked behind a hill to limit freeway noise. Many pull-thru's sites. Very clean...They are set up for the Northern Rv traveler heading south.

Good Sam rating 9.0 to 10.0

Thanks, we will keep that one in mind! I was looking at a place in Beckley, but this would do too.

On our last trip down we had a caravan of 8 units and we did the following route
I 90 west out of Buffalo
I 79 south from Erie
I 68 east from Morgantown
Route 522. To Winchester where we overnights at Candy Hill campground.
Route 17 to Fredericksburg
I 95 south to South Carolina
Route 501 to Myrtle Beach.

Our second route south go Mb

I 90 to Erie pa
I. 79 south to Tesla
Route 19 south to Beckley
I 77 to Wytheville
I 81 to I 77 south
I 77 to I 74
I 74 to I 40
I40 to I 73 - 74 or called 220

With this route we overnights at the KOA in Flatwoods in West Virginia.

Both of the routes have hills, but nothing you cannot handle.

Ocean Lakes is great and Cherry Hill Park is good too. We have stayed at both.
The picture for my signature is at the KOA Myrtle Beach which is our favorite campground at Mb, but we also had good experiences at Lakewood. And Ocean Lakes.

Yes, just though Fort Chiswell was very easy to get in and out to continue your trip. There was also a Flying J at that exit.
