Trailer Village Campground, Grand Canyon????

Has anyone stayed at the Trailer Village Campground at Grand Canyon? We are starting to plan a trip out there (after a very awesome trip to Yellowstone this year) and would love to hear your feedback on the park. Open to other suggestions too!

Thanks
Nick

Trailer Village Campground, Grand Canyon????

I was there in 02. Certainly convenient to all areas of that side of the Canyon and we had a nice spot. In 2012 we stayed in Williams at the Grand Canyon Railway RV park . Convenient to town ( a walk ) and we took the toad up to the Canyon or the Railway was right there as well.

Best place to stay, IF you can get in!! Several years ago, we lucked out and got a walk-in from a cancelled reservation, and got to spend the whole week there. Just check out the door before opening it first thing in the morning. The mule deer liked to sleep about a foot from the door.

We stayed in Williams this year, also at Grand Canyon Railway. It's an easy drive to the south rim of the canyon, maybe 50 miles. We liked being able to walk to town to try different restaurants. We stayed in site 305. It backed up to some trees and a distant road. Other sites backed right up to the railroad tracks. Was full hook up, very clean showers, pleasant surroundings, nice office check in area, tho a little close to your neighbor. But if you're out all day and dining at night, close neighbor's are not bothersome.

We liked it. It's not polished but fit our 41'er nicely. The shuttle stops right at the entrance and elk roam thought the campground.

Basically a big parking lot, but it is very convenient. If you can manage without hookups, Mather Campground is right next door and has roomier sites.

Don't do a Clark Griswold. Stay at Trailer Village if you can. There's no substitute if you really want to experience the Canyon and all it's magnificence. Hiking the rim trail, sunrises and sunsets over the Canyon with it's ever changing lighting, visiting the more obscure attractions like Desert View Watch Tower and Hermit's Rest. Or if you're really ambitious, maybe hiking the corridor trails. Stay in Williams or Sedona for another adventure.

We stayed at Trailer Village in 2015, and loved it. The site we had was a pull-thru 50AMP full hook-up with cable TV, cost was $37.50 a night. Our senior pass was not accepted at the campground since the operator of the campground was independent of the Federal government. The pass did get us into the park for free so, not to bad.

I liked staying there since we did not have to drive or pay for train fare everyday we were at the Grand Canyon park. As stated above ELK roam thru the campsite and the shuttle picks up and drops you off right in front of the entrance to the campground. The shuttles are free and have run about every 15 min's. Easy to get around using the shuttle service to visit and see all of the south rim of the park.

Trailer Village Campground, Grand Canyon????

We were there this past spring and enjoyed it. Sites were plenty big and wildlife is abundant. Very convenient for visiting south rim area.

Thanks all! I believe we have decided on Trailer Village, We definitely want Pull through Full hook-up and 50amp service. The location seems as good as it can get. We do plan on doing a good number of hikes and most likely the Mule ride into the canyon for the overnight stay! My wife did that when she was 12 and it made a big impression on her. Going to make the reservation as soon as I can at the 13 month mark.

Have fun. We were lucky and got in after a cancelation. Also got beds in the dorms to sleep overnight at Phantom Ranch (more cancelations). We hiked down and up the Bright Angel trail. I would have liked to be on a mule going back up!!
Happy Glamping.
