Trip to NE US

Retiring in the spring and wife and I are planning a trip to NE US. Live in OKC and plan to head to Ashville, NC. From there would love to end up in Maine and back Okc. Looking for route and trip suggestions. Been all over the west, but never east. Will be in a Winnie 31KE pulling a 12' cargo trailer with a Roadglide inside. Thanks in advance for suggestions. No time limits.

From Ashville (make sure you visit the Biltmore Estate!) you can take I-81 up to Shenandoah NP. You can hit some Civil War sites at Antietam and Gettysburg.

Washington DC and Philly are great for history and a couple cheesesteaks!

NYC is doable if you stay at Liberty campground and take mass transit.

If you stay on i-81 you can visit the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Boston is good for a visit to Fenway!

Once in Maine, our favorite is Bar Harbor.

Safe travels!

Maine & New Hampshire have some great rides for the bike. Bar Harbor can be really crowded in summer as well as anywhere south of Portland. It's best to find a place where you can day trip as we do. We've been spending summers in Maine for a few years now and really like it........especially the LOBSTER. We stayed in Harrington, Me. for a few months, and the owner of the campground will cook and deliver lobster to your coach for $7lb. But you can find little out of the way places that'll have those beauties available just about anywhere along the coast. If you have a pot big enough, just find your way to one of the many harbors and you can get them right off a boat.

You didn't mention your time frame. One of our favorite trips we started out the last two weeks in September at Acadia NP (camp grounds close the first week or two in October). We then headed south following the fall colors and visited many of the Civil War and Revelotionary War sites. We stayed anywhere from one to two weeks at each site.
Seeing some of the battlefields in full color was amazing as well as thought provoking.
